My self-summary
I'm pretty geeky and pretty fun-loving. I like to think I'm easy going and fairly mild mannered. I have things that I am passionate about, but I rarely get into a blind rage. I've been accused of being an intelligence-snob, both lovingly and not so lovingly. I'm not personally spontaneous, though I'm working on it, and I really like the people I'm around to be pretty spontaneous. I dunno, I'm a pretty open book. If you have a question, just ask!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently half way through my masters degree in archaeology and it's at that stage where it feels like it will never be done, and at many points has been put on hold. I'm currently working full time (awesome job with the government). I've been in school pretty much my whole life, and I feel weird when I'm not enrolled in a class of some sort. But I love my field, so it's very much worth it.

I work way too much, for a job I love, so I can be hard to get a hold of, and often I am just exhausted, but at the end of the day it's worth it because I like to think I'm making a difference.

Otherwise, I am a sci-fi and monster movie junkie. I spend a lot of my free time reading, watching tv or playing on the internet. I try to write, but I realize my limitations. I'll never sell a novel (hell, I probably will never write anything long enough!) but I enjoy writing, so that will have to be reward enough.

I have a dog, who is awesome, and I love hiking, camping, and just being outdoors. I love the sun and tolerate the snow, but barely.
I’m really good at
remembering things. Especially really dumb trivia. I blame the years and years of school but my memory has always been pretty damn good.
The first things people usually notice about me
my geekiness or my long hair. Or at least those are the two things that people mention to me...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books/authors - anything by Douglas Coupland, Robert J. Sawyer, or David Sedaris. I read a lot of speculative fiction, science fiction, and paranormal romances too. If Oprah recommended it, I've learned that I'm likely going to hate it or find it boring.

movies - Star Wars (yeah, all of them), Indiana Jones, Stargate, Dogma. I love old movies, especially older cheesy sci-fi movies. And if it came from a comic book, odds are good I'm gonna love it. I watch a lot of documentaries. I have phases where I am addicted to them and watch way too many, then try to change me life based on the moral behind them (i.e. I'm now looking at trying to eat foods sourced locally, and with as low an impact as possible).

tv - Supernatural, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Futurama, various news shows (both serious and pundit) for pure comedic value, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Merlin, 30 Rock, Sherlock, the list goes on and on.

food - well, I'll pretty much eat anything, but I love curries right now.
The six things I could never do without
This list used to be longer until I found out that I really CAN live without electricity, I just don't like it. Um, in no particular order (except for that which they popped into my head):

1) my dog. There's just something nice about constant happy companionship.

2) books. Otherwise I'd probably get very bored and restless very quickly.

3) good food.

4) good friends.

5) candy, particularly chocolate.

6) money, but for practical reasons. stupid society which enforces rules regarding paying for things /rant
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sex. No, really. And not just in the "man, that's hot, yay nakedness!" kinda way, but also in the gay-rights, societal concepts of sex/gender, why-we-believe-the-things-we-believe kind of way too. It's such a base part of human nature, and it's what fundamentally makes us all tick (or, if you think about it biologically, what made us start to tick in the first place at conception), so yeah. It's on my mind a bit, I suppose.

Also, what's for dinner. Because I can be really indecisive about food.

And land. I think about land quite a bit. Our societies perceptions on land and land use. Policy and legislative framework in regards to land, ownership, long term planning on land use... and also about how the land was used in the past, how it can be sussed out through looking at the archaeological record, and what that says about past human societies. I dunno, it's on my mind a lot.
On a typical Friday night I am
usually hanging out with my friends somewhere. If not, then I'm at home curled up with a good book and recovering from a long week of work & school.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't really think of anything (and I've spent time trying! I hate unanswered questions! It's probably due to years of writing exams. Always use the space! Never leave it blank!)

Um... I sing (kinda loudly) in the shower, but that's not a secret to anyone who lives near me...

I dunno. I'll come back to this.... maybe. If I can think of something.
