My self-summary
Internet dating is a strange beast, here goes...

I'm a nerd who likes to escape his desk, I haven't had an actual desk in ages actually.
I grew up in the north east in a small town outside of Boston, MA. I made my way west, going to school for environmental science then stopping in the mountains for a spell and hitchhiking across the country, worked on a farm and a wolf sanctuary and moved to Oakland to learn to cook. I worked as a line cook for a while at a couple of East Bay restaurants and now have a bizarre and wonderful job making Italian prosciutto, sausage and salami in Oakland, CA. I try to pretend I'm a grown up, but I'll be jumping in puddles before you know it.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm trying to be the best human I can be both mentally and physically. I'm trying to make the most of the opportunities I have to pursue and share the things I love: music, cooking (singing my eyebrows off), being outside (getting properly dirty), homesteading/zombie apocalypse skills, knowledge of the world around me and of myself and physical practice--especially capoeira which I got into recently after meeting some very special people at lake merrit. I actually train for this a lot right now, it's the most fun...
also trying to make sense of the spanish language based on the dirty words I've picked up from my fellow kitchen slaves.
Incidentally if you want to teach me portuguese please call me!
I’m really good at
Playing with my body and my mind, cooking, learning weird stuff and bringing it up in conversation at wonderfully awkward moments, making pie, stretching my mind and body, noticing peculiar things and preparing a good meal with friends and burping afterwards (not a complete list...)
I love the random skills in life that you acquire without really intending to pursue.
The first things people usually notice about me
They're not sure what I think I'm doing...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A lot really especially if I've never heard it before, music makes me very happy.
I must confess that I'm not up to date on what the 'young folks' are listening to these days...
I love old jazz and blues music and soul and r/b and guitar music from around the world actually the ventures are rocking my world right now. I grew up on Queen and led Zeppelin and grunge rock because of my awesome combo of a gay foster brother and east coast 90's radio, oh yeah!
I'm also in love with Frank Zappa....

My favorite movie is either the Godfather or the Princess Bride ("never mess with a Sicilian...") but I enjoy documentaries and zombie movies and kung fu movies if it's interesting and or absurd I'm in.
I love my vegetables but am far from a vegetarian.
Jose Saramago is rocking my world right now, I love books by angry europeans crazy old chinese men and drunken anglo males from the first half of the century (dostoyevsky/camus, han shan, hemingway/fitzgerald...these are all wide genres actually) read a lot of history (political/environmental/otherwise) and news but also a lot of geology and biology because well, nerd.
My roommate is going to grad school for physical therapy and I love mooching off her awesome anatomy and physiology textbooks. I've learned a lot about physical training and massage from her.
And calvin and hobbes, because I appreciate wisdom and sass and snowmen.
The six things I could never do without
physical contact on many levels, my legs, fermented/brewed food and beverage, stories, guitars, the outside, things I haven't seen before.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How the world we live in came about and where our ideas about it came from, and how much our food reveals about us.
For myself: exercise and muscle anatomy (comparing different species is really neat and really weird) and Brazilian guitar music and where I'm headed next in life and on the planet--probably south soon, it's important to get down.

Dirty jokes to tell my co-workers at the sausage factory. (great conversation starter if you dare)

Relationships of all kinds and how much they contribute to the world we inhabit, both personally and as a society.

And who will put the bop in the bop shebop if Leonard Nemoy doesn't work at the Boston Science museum anymore.

My sinister plans to conquer the world and open a farm to table restaurant/farm with my two brothers one day...in Chile if I have any say in the matter.
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing with a couple of good friends and recovering from the week.
Or being horizontal somewhere planning an epic weekend project or adventure.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I wish I was Indiana Jones...
I’m looking for

Just give it a shot,
I'm looking for a playmate and romantic interest (same thing in my book) but I'm also interested in meeting new people to train with or goof off with or go adventuring or just relax and throw together a good meal on a random weekday night.

I have some cool opportunities right now to work at the things I care about, and I don't really have time to be attached to anyone's hip, but I'd love to know someone who also feels driven to make the most of their time and wants to share some of theirs with someone awesome.

So, if you find it stimulating to meet new people whether they're similar to you or not, "we get comfort from those who agree with us, and growth from those who don't"
if it sounds like we might have something to talk about and you want to get some coffee and hang out by the lake for half an hour or make some delicious food or shoot billiards or find some music or workout or just go play outside.

I also prefer interacting with real humans so I hope it doesn't weird anyone out that I'd rather meet in person than chat online extensively. Reality is more fun, even if we decide to bail after 5 minutes.
