My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Californian dude, est 1983.

Maybe that's too vague?

I'm from San Jose and spent my early 20s doing lots of travelling thanks to the Navy (I've been to Mexico, Australia, Hong Kong, Bahrain, the UAE, Singapore, and a few other places). I don't surf or skate but I do play guitar and drive a muscle car (both are works in progress). I also art. I've fooled around with a lot of media but I my favorites are pencils and digital painting. Real painting is awesome too but I don't have the space for that right now.

I appreciate the aesthetics of things. Design is important and bad design makes me crazy (I'm looking at YOU, automotive engineers!). Composition and form and leading lines - oh yes, these are important.

I don't believe in the supernatural or paranormal but el cucuy is going to get you, just saying.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I recently finished a 15 month stint at Apple. It experience. Currently I'm taking it easy, considering sucking it up and learning to do something I hate (coding) so that I can round out my resume a bit, but not until the new year starts...It's hibernatin' time as far as that's concerned. Drawing, plucking guitar strings in an attempt to learn some Slayer, doodling and scribbling ideas for visuals and game mechanics are what's keeping me busy lately.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
playing devil's advocate/wearing someone else's shoes, trivia...definitely not dancing or singing, though I do the latter in the car anyway. if I'm alone. and it's dark. aaand If I'm not stopped at a traffic light. Hm. Drawing from live models (I miss college for this one thing)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
that I seem to have a devil-may-care, lackadaisical attitude towards the world. I don't, really, I just read too much world news and I find it very, very depressing. Aside from that, I suppose they notice an enthusiasm for things penguiny.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I have a small collection of books ranging from historical stuff about war to science fiction and a bunch of "the art of ___ " books. "Art of" books are my favorite.

My favorite movie genre is definitely Fantasy and I'm bummed that movies like Willow and Conan only come out like once or twice a decade. Excalibur is one of my favorites. After that I don't really have a genre preference; usually I just want to watch what suits my mood.

I don't watch much TV. Most of what I see comes through netflix though I catch the occasional 'it' show and am eagerly awaiting Game of Thrones season 4. I have Rome and Deadwood on dvd and love them both. I like what I've seen of Firefly, though I've never watched the whole thing. I dig Futurama and Ugly Americans.

I like most forms of rock and roll. Lately I've been listening to a lot of metal, though I like the lighter stuff sometimes too. I really have a little bit of everything in my music collection, though, including a little country and rap.

I'm not a huge foodie. I like meat and plants, but not onions or mushrooms or garlic or anything similar. Fish is ok, but not shrimp or crab or lobster. Or squid/octopus. I have a thing about textures, I dunno.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
a car
a pen or pencil
creative outlets
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
music, game design, art projects that I need to finish, how the world is doomed and we're all doomed and doomy doom. I also think about up and moving to some tiny town in some other state - that's as far as that train of thought gets before being derailed, because the obvious next question, "then what?" doesn't have a good answer.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
with my friends, drinking, catching a movie, seeing a show, whatever. We stay in and play games a lot, too. On those Fridays that I find myself alone (an infrequent occurrence, fortunately) I like to listen to music and play Civ 5 or Skyrim.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I'm not a big fan of anything with more than four legs, so I'm really grateful for all the cold we've been having...
