Currently a lot of my time goes to work. I'm a software engineer,
and I enjoy it. I find it very satisfying to be presented with a
problem, and finding a solution to it over the course of days,
weeks, or even months.
Even though I enjoy the nerdy side of my life, I make sure that I
mix in a healthy amount of other things. Lately I've really enjoyed
exercising and going to the gym, and I also like hanging out with
I enjoy travelling, and I've been to several neat places including
various locations in the Caribbean, Alaska, and Hawaii. I'd go back
to any of them again, but I've been pondering where else I would
like to see some day.
What I’m doing with my life
Working and learning. Now that I'm done with my Masters in Computer
Science, I haven't quite decided what to work on. My current goal
that isn't work or school related is to become more fit. Someday
I'd like to learn how to play another instrument, probably the
guitar or piano. I'd also like to get better at photography and
associated skills such as photo editing. Basically, with work
satisfying the math and logic part of my brain, I'm looking to
balance that out a little bit with things that are physical or
I’m really good at
programming, making people laugh, sleeping through loud things,
learning, puzzle solving, reaching things, personal finance
questions, math, tetris
The first things people usually notice about me
I've never asked. If I had to guess, I would assume my height.
Especially in Towson, where for some reason everyone seems
exceptionally small. Weird.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I typically go for fantasy and sci fi books. One of my favorite books is called "The Name of the Wind". I'm also a fan of survival stories such as The Swiss Family Robinson and Robinson Crusoe. The latest book I've been trying to get everyone to read is The Martian.
Music, I'm not terribly picky. There are songs from pretty much every genre that I can enjoy. I don't have any clear favorites at the moment, but I seem to be trending towards a capella. Pentatonix, Home Free, and Peter Hollens (singing with yourself over and over counts). Another recent favorite has been Apocalyptica. Its hard to beat metal with cellos. I've also been a fan of nightwish, evanescence, and bands with similar sounds to them.
Shows, I love the discovery channel. Mythbusters (sad its ending...), Deadliest Catch, Man vs Wild, Survivorman, and Gold Rush are lots of fun to watch. I also enjoy Futurama, Survivor (shh), Breaking Bad, and plenty of others. Been working my way through House of Cards and Doctor Who as well.
Food-wise, cows are pretty much the most delicious animal ever, and I'm always a fan of steak or burgers. Boring, I know, but I'm willing to try just about anything that I can say with a fairly high certainty is food, as long as its not extremely spicy. If I had to pick one culture's food to call my favorite, I'd probably pick Mexican.
The six things I could never do without
I will skip the obvious, such as friends/family, food, water, air, etc...
In the order that I thought of them, not of priority:
1) My glasses/contacts
2) Programming (if work is boring me, I have to program my own stuff for a while)
3) Something to read
4) A job
5) An attractive place to walk nearby
I spend a lot of time thinking about
'Life, the universe, and everything'- my mind wanders a lot,
especially when I'm at a class, in meetings, or have a bunch of
work that I can get away with putting off a while longer. Lately,
I've been interested in finding something new to try to get better
at, so I guess I've been thinking about that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Reading, at the gym, watching TV, playing with my 360 and kinect.
I've never been much for bars or clubs, though I've been known to
go to a bar every now and then.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I always eat the pepper that comes with the Papa Johns pizza, even
though I don't like it.
You should message me if
You want to! I'm friendly.
