I am singing, laughing, and being awesome.
My Self-Summary
I'm Mike. I am a huge fan of life here in Wilmington. I like to
think I can get along with anybody (as long as they don't have
crazy extremist views of the world). I am a member of Port City
Players, an
improv comedy group that has a
weekly show downtown (Level 5, Tuesdays, 9 p.m.)!
I spend my free time singing
karaoke, playing video games, and
watching TV (of course, any show I really like is bound to get
canceled on me). That is assuming I *have* any free time. I stay
pretty busy with improv comedy shows, work, and updating my Harry
Potter Adult Fan Fiction website (not really on the last one --
just seeing who is paying attention).
I decided to reduce my need for fossil fuels and bought a Yamaha
Vino Classic
scooter. It's only a 1-seater, but it
gets me around town and I only spend like 2 bucks a week on gas!
It's a bit of a bitch when it is cold outside.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm trying to promote the bejesus out of my comedy shows. Message
me about them if you'd like to see one. We perform Tuesdays at
Level 5.
It's a riotous good time. Bring your friends.
Just please stop asking us to scenes about kids with cancer. It's
in poor taste.
I’m really good at
Improvisation - on a stage in front of people for money. Also in
the McGuyver sense that I can build neat things from stuff you
wouldn't expect.
The first things people usually notice about me
My unusual sense of humor. It's a bit off color and I can't turn it
off. Occupational hazard, I suppose. If you've got a dark sense of
humor then we'll probably be cool. If you take life too damn
seriously, don't bother talking to me. I'll only frustrate you.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I have the leftover habit from when I was younger of reading
Fantasy and SciFi novels. The geek in me shall never die. That, and
authors have a nasty habit of never actually FINISHING a damn
series. My favorite books are the
"A Song of Fire and
Ice" by
George RR Martin series.
As far as movies goes, I'll watch them all. Some of the cheesiest B
rated ones are awesome. Some blockbusters don't do it for me.
I like all kinds of music. But, being a child of the 90s, it's all
about the grunge and pop of that era. Very little modern music
appeals to me. I guess that's how you know you're getting
old.
I can eat just about anything put in front of me. There's a few
exceptions, most notable is seafood. If it swam in life (or crawled
underwater, even) I do not want to eat it.
The six things I could never do without
1) Internet Access - I need to be plugged in. Information
junkie.
2) My Scooter - I guess a car would do, too, but my scooter is a
lot more fun.
3) Improv - My artistic outlet of choice.
4) Sleep - I do this about 8 hours a day.
5) Karaoke - I'm a bit of an addict. I think it comes from my
desire to be out of my house coupled with the fact that I can't go
drinking unless there is an associated activity.
6) The adoration of millions and millions of fans. (I'm working on
this one, I've got a solid half-dozen right now, including my Mom)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'd have to give up in my life to find "true happiness" and
exactly what "true happiness" means. I think it is Freedom, but you
can't have the freedom to do what you want without money, which
takes a job, and jobs are the opposite of freedom. Maybe I'll
settle for "true happiness is warm socks fresh from the dryer".
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm usually at home or work on Friday nights. I spend the rest of
the week downtown doing improv shows, singing karaoke, or other
such fun stuff.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I couldn't ride a bike until I was 12.
You should message me if
1) You want to come see one of my shows.
2) You think I'm just swell, gee-golly-willakers.
3) You would like to find out how to save 15% or more on your
car
insurance.
