I am calm, cool, and collected.

My Self-Summary

some tidbits about myself:

thus far, i've managed to live in many places: Buenos Aires (where I was born), Los Angeles, Petropolis, Rio de Janeiro, Ann Arbor, Boston, San Francisco, and counting (maybe).

although i’ve traveled, i still have the wanderlust bad.

i have a good sense of humor about myself and the world; and enjoy intellectual challenges as much as spontaneous adventures, silliness, and whimsy.

i am a combination of caustic wit, sarcasm, intelligence, and inappropriate (usually loud and funny) outbursts tempered with thoughtfulness, kindness, and genuine interest.

i am fiercely loyal to the people i love.

What I’m doing with my life

spending too much time in front of this here computer.

after a long hiatus, I am getting back into yoga.

riding my new old bright yellow bike with the temperamental gears.

making space to get back to making art and exploring writing again.

I’m really good at

A little of this, a little of that:

*making coffee
*making my friends laugh
*eating yummy food (often cooked by people i loved)
*making a mess
*taking a call at 3 am from friends because they need to talk something out
*road trips
*really enjoying being in nature despite my being a consummate city dweller
*listening
*picking out the right cheese and wine at the market
*making paper boats, origami square balloons, and tinfoil ballerinas

The first things people usually notice about me

i'm tall.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

recently loved Interpreter of Maladies and Middlesex (way after the masses have finished with it). just picked up Francisco Goldman's The Ordinary Seaman again--maybe I'll finish it this time.

after a great conversation with a friend, i got the hankering to see "seven" again (have yet to do that). recently saw the beautifully devastating Waltz with Bashir. and i think i want to grow up to be Ponyo, except that i don't eat ham.

i listen to practically everything: hip hop, almost anything from Latin America, most rock, jazz, indie and alternative]] anything, [electronica, r&b, soul, the list goes on. No muzak, i'm afraid.

i'm a pescatarian, so i love good, fresh food, provided it only breaths under water and/or sprang from the soil.

The six things I could never do without

my bed

coffee

my cell phone (although i hate to admit it)

a good book: both printed and blank

all the people i love: friends and family

adventure (and the time to devote to it)

not in any particular order.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

culture in all its forms, how much I hate this economy (especially its impact on culture and education), how pretty shiny things tend to be, narrative, how great old hard-cover books smell, and where I'd like to travel to next...yeah, there's that wanderlust again.

On a typical Friday night I am

out and about
with friends
staying home
dancing
eating good food
avoiding huge crowds
in the middle of the masses
reading a book
engaged in meaningful conversations
having superficial exchanges
cooking dinner
drinking
scratching my head
at the park
taking photos
going to movies
critiquing films
getting out of town
walking about aimlessly
going to a show
finding trouble (well, trouble finds me)
drawing
at friends' houses
laughing uncontrollably
thinking
being surprised by people, things, and/or situations
etc...

You know, not all at the same time, but some permutation thereof...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

i was born without wisdom teeth.

some say this means that i have no wisdom.

i like to think that this makes me more evolved.

really, it just means that i didn't have to go through the hassle of getting them removed.

You should message me if

if you are so inclined...
