My self-summary
Hello my name is Kate, (I just thought I would tell you just incase you didn’t figure that one out on your own ;) )

The super cut and dry version of me is that I grew up in South KC and moved to Lee’s Summit when I was still in grade school. I went to undergrad at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. There I earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Ceramics. Directly after undergrad I moved to Fairbanks, Alaska to work on my Masters of Fine Arts degree (also in sculpture and ceramics). I lived in Fairbanks for 3 years and just moved back to KC in July.

As far as my personality goes I am an intelligent, fun, kind, trustworthy, empathetic, energetic, happy, easy-going lady who is a straight-shooter, slightly gullible and enjoys just about everything I do. I love going out on adventures and trying new things, but I am also equally entertained staying in and having a great conversation. On occasion I can be a little shy but for the most part I like to think of my self as a very social person, and even kind of a weirdo. I can hold a conversation with just about anyone, from a gas station attendant to a life long friend. I am very close to my family and also my friends. I love spending time with the people I am close to as much as possible and making the best of every situation while doing it, whether that time is spent going on a walk, going out to a dive bar, watching a movie, or camping I think everything is better with a companion. Now that being said I also need my alone time to stay sane. Also as cheesy as it may sound I do love going on long walks... not so much so on the beach though, mostly due to the lack of them here in the midwest. I usually prefer trails and also walking around on a sidewalk. I love people watching and sometimes walking through a neighborhood is one of the best ways to do it... That way you can observe the people in their natural habitat :)

Now to be completely honest with you I am on this site looking for someone that wants a real relationship. Now I am not saying this will happen with the next person I go out with. I am all down for going out on dates to find this person but it is very important to me you are also looking for something long term… If you are looking for something more casual that is great but I might not be your gal given that I am looking for something serious. Now that we have that out of the way I should also mention laughter and humor are extremely important in my life and therefore it is imperative that you have a great sense of humor. It is also important that you don’t take life to serious and often find your self acting silly just for the sake of having fun. But on the flip side you should also know when to act professional and have the ability to be serious (just not all the time)
What I’m doing with my life
I am a part time adjunct professor at a local college and part time plate slinger. Now, I know what you are thinking... DAMN! If only I had a masters degree, I could be a server too! Don't you worry. You too can have a degrading job on the side. All you have to do is set your mind to it and you can do anything! Basically I promised my self when I got into grad school that I would never go back to serving, but it turns out it's hard out there for a pimp. (Obviously I am said pimp ;) ) The good news is that I get to keep my elitist customers on their toes. When ever they start treating me like I am an idiot, I sneak the fact that I have a masters degree and I teach college into the conversation. I might not be a rocket scientist but I'm also not a hobo servent. I hope that if you learn nothing else from my ridiculously long profile you will at least remember to treat a stranger with respect. Chances are pretty good there is more to them than the 5 second encounter you had with them.

I also moved to the West Plaza area a few months back. I am pretty pumped about city life since I have never lived in a walking community before. I also think it is be a pretty sweet juxtaposition to my previous residence of a cabin in the Alaska woods.

I am also slowly putting a studio together so I can start making work again. I am going nuts with out it. I really want to take some time to just make pots and sell them to strangers on the street. It's a win win. I make a cup, someones thirst is quenched. Hooray!
I’m really good at
Writing profiles that 90% of people will open and say "Oh eff that! I didn't get on here to read or learn about someone. I just wanted to look at their pictures and learn that they are "fun and easy going" "
The first things people usually notice about me
I have been told I have a very contagious smile and laugh. I also get really excited and sometimes, I can talk a bit fast and loud because of it. I am fully willing to admit I am a weird person mainly because for the most part I don't care what people think about me. I do what I want when I want.

People also probably notice that I am pretty tall for a lady, and I have a very big personality which I am told makes me appear taller. Because of this I do hold my one fairly prominent characteristic of vanity. I do prefer a gentalman to be taller than me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
First off I want to admit I am super pop culture dumb I never know what is cool in music, movies, and TV. I have always been this way but after spending the last 4 years with out TV or any real connection to the "outside world" of pop culture it has become much worse.

Books- I don't really read novels for pleasure. I love art books (yes yes lots of pictures) but I also love reading them as well. Like I said I have been a student most of my life so I have mostly been reading books that I have been assigned. Some of these I absolutely loved and some I wish I had not wasted my time. A book has to be extremely interesting to keep my attention.

Movies- I like almost all kinds of movies except for slasher and horror. But give me a suspenseful thriller with a great plot line like Se7en, or Silence of the Lambs and I am in for sure! I usually prefer movies to be somewhat happy. I am not saying the movie has to be over the top joyous but I don't really like movies that nothing good happens for the characters I have invested in. Some of my favs are Forest Gump, Shawshank, Lars and the Real Girl, Amelie, Raising Arizona, most Pixar/Dreamworks movies, Away we Go, August Rush, Big, Date Night, Good Will Hunting, Back to the Future trilogy (duh), The Green Mile, Love Actually, The Sting, Stranger than Fiction, Waitress, Yes Man, The Princess Bride, Ect ect ect

TV-I don’t watch very much TV but I do like comedies along the lines of Parks and Recreation and Modern Family. Also my total guilty pleasure, mystery crime dramadies such as Psych, Castle, Monk, and Bones

Music- I am extremely eclectic in my musical taste. I really don’t like music that yells at me though (aka heavy metal) but I am also a firm believer that all genres of music have something truly spectacular to offer. Now as I stated earlier I am super pop culture dumb so lately I have been relying on Pandora to tell me what else is out there. Recently I have been rocking out to pandora stations such as The Avett Brothers, Florence and the Machine, Ray LaMontagne, Regina Spektor, Bon Iver, M Ward, The Devil Makes Three, Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Sugar Hill Gang, and so on and so on

While I do love music I prefer to listen to talking in my day to day. I love podcasts, stand up comedy, and stories. I have yet to start listening to audio books but mainly because I fear I would get way to addicted.

Food- I am a very adventurous eater. I will try everything once and I will always try things again that I have never liked in the past. My favorites are Greek, Thai, and of course Sushi. I not only enjoy going out to eat it but also coming up with my own rolls. My most recent moment of sushi genius was a halibut (Actually the one in my picture) balsamic pickled fig, cream cheese roll. The answer is YES, you should be jealous because it was delicious!

The only food I have never and probably will never like is olives. I think they are super gross. Yucky! I am also not usually a fan of fruit salsa (such as peach and pineapple salsa). I dont know why either. I love fruit and I love salsa, I guess I have just yet to meet the fruit salsa that I like.
The six things I could never do without
Well realistically I can live without any "things" aside from the basics of food, air, water, the sun, ect- But for the sake of what this question is really getting at (what I find most important in my life) I would have to say-
Family and Friends
Humor
My hands
A purpose
Coffee
A comfortable bed
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What my life has in-store for me and what my next big adventure will be.

How awesome it is to work in a restaurant...
On a typical Friday night I am
I like to keep my Friday nights (and most other nights) open for what ever will happen. I am a creature of habit in somethings but I try to not have a "typical" day of the week. Lets do something totally neat on a Friday!!!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes when I am in my own little world I will either replay conversations or situations in my brain or make up possible situations and find my self actually making the facial expressions that correlate with said situation or conversation. I think that if someone were to be watching me they might think I am a bit of a loon considering I am not talking to anyone but my face looks like it is reacting to something amazing.

I also forget I am smiling sometimes. I don't mean a small smirk either I mean a full blown "I just cracked" up smile. I guess sometimes my face needs longer the truly appreciate the best things in life than my brain does. :)

I lied about something on here and its awesome. HA! See if you can figure it out. I promise is is not hard to find.

Oh and here is one. I have lost 75lbs. I have been maintaining for about a year. I recently got back on the losing track to shuck at least another 25. I did it over time and the healthy way (diet, exercise, and self control) I have worked very hard for my accomplishments. If this is something you find weird then you should probably not message me but I think its just the opposite! Hooray for what hard work can accomplish!!!
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 24–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
If you read through my entire profile and found my novel of ramblings to be at all interesting.

If you have more to say than "Hey, Hi, Hows it going, Ect" I have given you plenty to go on so please utilize it. If you can not even think of one sentence to say with a little meat it then we probably won't get along.

You are looking for a relationship.

If you have a love of life and want to spend your time making it as fun as possible.

You have the ability to grow a beard (and use this ability for the greater good)

You love to camp.

You could see your self eventually spending the summers in a cabin in Alaska.

If you think we would get along, I know I said I am looking for a relationship but I also like making friends (who doesn't?). I only ask if you are not looking for something more to possibly develop you please be up front.

If you want to know more.
