I am interested, quirky, and fun.

My Self-Summary

I love learning new things and random adventures. Right now, I am doing the science grad student thing and love the exposure to new ideas and mostly the people. I also spent several years moving all over the country for various jobs. I love playing outside, hiking, skiing, anything in the water (okay, so i live in boulder and guess that didn't need to be said). A great night often includes dancing, especially if is it is around my living room. ask what it is I am thinking ... you'll probably be amused.

What I’m doing with my life

I just started a PhD program in Ecology. I am happiest when I am outside looking at plants and making up stories about why they are there. I study a lot but also make time for fun and friends. Oh yeah, it usually takes less than two weeks for friends to ask "did you used to work in environmental education?" yes, i did.

The first things people usually notice about me

probably my enthusiasm

The six things I could never do without

something to think about
a way to get outside
friends
adventure
the internet
(i never have been great at following instructions)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

plants, sun, balancing work and fun, my place in the world, the happiness of those around me, research, how i should actually start writing down my to-do lists, a new story, the intersection of science and policy, how to balance wanting to play outside with not wanting to destroy it, what "natural/nature" means

On a typical Friday night I am

taking a deep breath, probably out with friends, possibly drinking in lab, planning the next adventure, getting into completely irreverent conversations, dancing, trying to organize late night capture the flag
