What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Studying, reading, sailing, spending time with others.
Trying to figure out how to improve the world.
Spending too much time in front of electronic devices...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Solving Computer Problems. For most other things, there's someone I know who does them better. It's called 'google'.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Short trousered more than half of the year. Ah wait, that's what they remember...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

All one needs: Calvin&Hobbes
Seriously, I read a lot of technical literature and scientific papers.

Movies: All those that try to carry a message and yes, even hollywood get's that job done from time to time.
Shows:
- The big bang theory, although it's not that "physical" any more.
- StarGate SG1
- StarTrek Voyager, although it was better, when I was younger
- House MD is fun every now and then
- The West Wing (I can't believe I forgot that)

I like political cabaret shows. Volker Pispers often nails it. And I admire Serdar Somuncu's approach (if he fits under this description at all).

Music: Every thing is better with a Hammond Organ! So late 60s and early 70s like Procol Harum, The Nice, Colosseum, early Pink Floyd, ELP, Ekseption, Rick Wakeman, Jethro Tull and all those gems I haven't discovered yet.
Contemporary: Muse, Dream Theatre, Frank Turner.
Baroque organ music and it's reincarnations.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I emphasize: things. As in (biological) lifeless objects:
- Freedom of speech, and more importantly thought
- (still thinking about)

Other than that: My family, friends, partner
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- Exponential growth against finite resources, renewable energies and energy harvesting
- The finance system, but haven't quite figured it out
- Aerodynamics of Sails and lately also dynamics of used boat markets. Time to upgrade, I think.
- How things work in general, I'm always deeply impressed how much thought went into most things around us, we take for granted every day
- High performance bus systems and memory hierarchies of integrated circuits (and their piplened VHDL implementation)
- The next big thing in Physics, where Mach, Dirac, Einstein, Sciama and Dicke didn't finish. (Big Number Hypothesis, Physical constants, Mach's Principle)
- Standart Model Physic, and where it might fail. At the moment: Gravitationalwave-DarkMatter interaction
- If I really like the music I listen to or if it's just by habit
- Recently: How many questions one should answer here and how skipped topics might affect the "personality"
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
- you'd like to exchange tales from your life over a tea, beer, or glass of wine at a restaurant or under a tree.
- want to go sailing on the Maschsee in Hannover every now and then
- you like to discuss at least one of the topics mentioned above
- you desperately need a back rub and are willing to listen to my thoughts on one of the topics mentioned earlier.
- Like unicorns (which is not intended as a sexually offensive hint)
