I am a single mom of two beautiful children, always first and foremost, and I love them more than anything in the world. I am also working on my PhD at the moment, which is a lot of work and sometimes so stressful I wonder how anyone survives grad school. Maybe it's a conspiracy and no one really does.

I'm a thinker, sometimes to my detriment, but for better or worse I tend to think deeply about a lot of things from social issues to the nature of the universe. I've been told I should have been a lawyer because I love to argue. But all this really means is that I often get into debates with people about random things. I love hearing other people's opinions. Unless it's wrong. Then you should just keep it to yourself.

I love hockey, particularly the New York Rangers. I talk a lot of smack, and often get myself into trouble betting on games (my last bet resulted in me having to wear a Leafs jersey out for a night...it was awful). Accordingly, one of my favourite past times is yelling at the tv.

I'm a pretty quiet person in general but if you get to know me then you might not be able to get me to shut up. I can be pretty silly at times, because no one should take themselves too seriously.

Trying to find that evasive work-life balance! Enjoying my kids' childhood years, working hard at what I do, taking full advantage of my time off from both parenting and school, staying fit, and enjoying the ride.

Writing

I couldn't possibly list all of my favourite books, but some of my favourite authors are Dickens, Shakespeare, Hemingway, Tolkien, Edgar Allen Poe, George Orwell, Jim Carroll, Jack Kerouac, James Joyce, J. M. Coetzee, T.S. Eliot, Emily Dickinson, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Pablo Neruda, and e.e. cummings.

I love all kinds of movies but a few of my favourites are American Beauty, Magnolia, Almost Famous, Fight Club, and Into the Wild. I never get tired of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Spiderman, or X-Men. And I think Robert De Niro and Edward Norton can make ANY movie good.

I watched the entire series of Lost in just over a month.

You like kids, are open-minded, and appreciate the more philosophical and intellectual side of things from time to time. Also, a general understanding of basic spelling and grammar would be pretty awesome.
