I am exploring, quirky, and a bit of a smartass.
My Self-Summary
Just moved here from the Midwest, still trying to adjust to the
many ups and downs of the city. As such I am, in particular,
looking for people to hang out and see the city with.
I like places that are open later than 10 pm.
I have metal plates in my head but don't set off metal detectors or
get radio signals.
I still consider having a farm sometimes (I was born in Iowa, what
can I do).
I was a professional (as in paid, not as in skilled) cook for the
better part of 5 years and still miss it sometimes.
I really like donuts and am somewhat disappointed by the seemingly
lacking number of places to get them near me; I think the best
thing in NYC is by far Doughnut Plant.
What I’m doing with my life
Wasting way too much of my time at my master's program lab. Finding
other things to do when I'm not doing that.
I’m really good at
Figuring things out. Also, putting together IKEA furniture. Those
are kind of related.
The first things people usually notice about me
I honestly have no idea. Probably that I am making a silly face,
walking with a silly stride, or am otherwise looking clueless.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Music: Jolie Holland, Steve Earle, Tom Waits, My Bloody Valentine,
Bill Callahan, ELO, Marissa Nadler, X, Loretta Lynn
Books: I tend not to have time for lots of non-school reading at
the moment, but greatly enjoy design, food, and news magazines and
blogs.
TV: Mad Men, The Wire, Arrested Development, King of the Hill, No
Reservations, Good Eats
Movies: Blue Velvet, Fargo, Pulp Fiction, Evil Dead, Troll 2
Food/Drink: Things I cook/bake, things without dairy (allergies are
a motherfucker), beer, whiskey
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Lines, shapes, colors. The death of the newspaper. What to eat.
What to wear. What to do.
On a typical Friday night I am
Getting dinner, getting drinks, doing things or relaxing or
both.
Lately this is all extremely optimistic, with schoolwork taking
over my schedule before finals.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have no idea. Doesn't it become public (e.g. not private) the
moment it's posted, thereby making an answer logically impossible?
I don't always make obnoxious logical arguments, just... sometimes.
You should message me if
You constantly seek out new things.
You don't mind swearing like its premium cable.
You want to talk about how awesome Troll 2, You Got Served or
Sudden Death is.
Your diction is off the wall. (optional, but appreciated)
Or you have something to say.
