My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Spent a ton of time in the past few years working on starting a company. That's gone well and it's gotten to the fun point now - so I can actually focus on something a bit more personal these days, like enjoying myself :) I did manage to knock off many bucket list items along the way, esp in terms of travel, but still very much left to do!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Now I get to focus on the fun stuff! Have been doing quite a bit of travel recently and have a few things planned... will have to discuss in person!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Creativity in business. I keep saying I don't know how I went from trading to film to tech entrepreneur but somehow it's happened! It's really interesting to see how creativity is extremely similar in very diverse fields. It's a bit more fun in business because you can implement meaningful changes and sometimes even change industries for the better. It's fun to have that kind of effect - you see the world change a bit around you and learn what makes things go round.
The first things people usually notice about me

Probably that I'm on the tall side and am quick to smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I don't get to the movies much these days, but I studied film in graduate school and have an excellent ability to fall back in love with it quickly. Some of my favorites have been Wong Kar Wai, Park Chan Wook, Tarantino, Hitchcock, and Inarritu. I kind of shudder when people think Lord of the Rings was great directing. Maybe in a blockbuster way, but it doesn't have the elegance of first 5 min of I Am Cuba - that stuff is just hands down gorgeous. My big film conundrum is that the only time I can regularly see the films I want is on planes, but the screen is so small it feels like a travesty! So I end up just watching the action films.

In terms of music, I have the unusual quality of (mostly) only liking new music. So anything recent off of Pandora works. Nothing 90's or 80's, at least for any extended period of time! I've been mocked for liking house music but it keeps me productive and is fun. I think a great test for the timelessness of a song is how well it fits into film soundtracks years after it came out. The Stones beat the Beatles by that metric (although I don't listen to either).

Food - don't get me started! I love anything Asian, Middle Eastern, or Mediterranean. Vietnamese and Indian are big favorites, but I really will try anything, especially when traveling. I figure if they are serving it at a nice hotel overseas, it can't possibly taste bad, no matter how crazy it looks. Legit the weirdest breakfast I ever had - Nasi Lemak. Mixture of coconut rice, sunny side up egg, Chicken Rendang (which is like a curry), Otak Otak (like a fish bacon or sausage), peanuts, cucumbers, and these little things which I thought were some kind of seasoning or dried shallot until I realized they were just super-small dried-up fish! Getting a bite of all of the above onto a spoon first thing in the morning is a bit of a trip in and of itself!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Smart people to work with and talk to, caring people to rely on, the smell of white wine at outdoor cafes in the summer, good comedy, fruity drinks on a beach, spicy food, city skylines at night.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to create new products and change the face of investing. How entrepreneurial thinking can be applied to all aspects of life. How amazing it is how quickly social change is taking place in society. What I'm going to eat next especially if its really, really good or hot :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Ha! I'm often recovering from the week over dinner or a glass a wine. Comedy shows have started to encroach on this time lately, for the better!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I hate it when I see parents bitch at their kids or treat them insensitively.
