My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A native of the 213 who currently lives in the 323.

I am intelligent, compassionate, thoughtful, funny, talkative, and a great listener...as compiled from a recent poll of my friends.

Looking for the next great conversation about life, politics, culture, or philosophy as well as just catching up with friends hearing about what is going on in their lives.

I love to travel. Had the good fortune of living abroad and have enjoyed collecting stamps in my passport. Always thinking about the next trip I would like to take. Israel was my last stamp but now taking the time to focus on my home state.

I love to explore the city and up for any new adventure: rock climbing, swing dancing, competitor in grilled cheese cook-off, lecture at the Getty just to name a few. Next on my list is Mt. Baldy. Is anyone up for a hike?

I could write a lot but until we meet in person you will never really know.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Went to grad school so I could save the world but ended up in the private sector. It is now time to go back to my roots. I have found the one corner city where I am making a difference. I still think about the bigger issues of social justice and how I can use my talents to make a difference.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Engaging people. Figuring out how to bike through the city without getting killed.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile and how my eyes disappear when I do. :-)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Why isn't TV on the list. Yes, I admit it I watch television.

TV: The Wire or any HBO Original, Mad Men, Louie CK

Movie: Rushmore, North by Northwest, American Beauty, Kings Speech, The Art of the Steel (recently I have been into Netflix's streaming documentaries), Run Lola Run, Up, Go, Swingers

Shows: Just saw Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf on Broadway. Amazing!

Books: Gave them up after grad school but the Sunday New York Times often feels like a book. Mostly nonfiction these days or a good article from The New Yorker. Consume mass quantity of information but does not often come in the form of a hardback book.

Music: Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, David Bowie, Cowboy Junkies, OK Go, Most of what I love is 60's and early 90's. I hate to admit it but I let Pandora do the work.

Radio: The Moth, Radio Lab, Fresh Air. A general NPR junkie. Slate has a series of podcasts that sometimes live on WNYC.

Food: Everything. As long as it does not have raw tomatoes then I am good to go.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Pay Phones
Morning Coffee
NPR
Second Cup of Coffee
French Toast
Android Phone (I need just in case I run out of quarters)

Of course the givens are on the list (friends, family, air, etc) I figured these are like the letters they give you at the end of Wheal of Fortune.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The next item I am going to take of my list of things to do in LA before I die...

This list has served me well. The remaining items are much better with company.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am not the greatest speller but I do know how to harness the power of spell check. Dam those homophones! It also helps that my friend is a copy editor.
