My self-summary
Back home in the Bay Area after a few years up on the North Coast. I'm passionate about energy issues in our society. I'm definitely an "animal person." I like to joke around and by most accounts am a pretty funny guy. (I realize that "I'm pretty funny" is often a thinly veiled code for " I'm not funny and actually really f*in annoying." ) I find it almost unbelievable that we inhabit a sphere that orbits a (relatively) giant ball of hydrogen in the middle of a vast universe. Think about it, isn't that trippy? There is a time and a place to fathom such things... however, often it is equally fun to shoot the shit about the absurdities of everyday life. Let's face it, we ain't gettin' any younger. I want to meet a girl I really connect with and this whole online thing may be just the tool to accomplish that! *Btw, don't have a beard or shaved head at the moment if that means anything (I've been told that's a good thing by most of my female friends!)

I personally don't see much difference between atheism and agnosticism. I've often found those who identify as atheist don't want to give any credibility to the dogmatic BS, and those who say agnostic don't want to project condescending (and impossible) certainty. My detest for all the suffering caused by organized religion makes me associate with the former. I don't know how or why we are here, but it is pretty obvious organized religion is a creation of humans, men in particular. If any Abrahamic religion is your thing, I'm not interested. However, the universal evolution of consciousness is a very magical thing. We really are the mirror to the Cosmos, Ourselves!

A lot of girls on this site seem to stress intelligence, both as a personal trait and as an important trait in others. Intelligence doesn't impress me in its own right. We are all born with biological limitations on intelligence, you gotta play the hand you're dealt, but when someone understands kindness, respect for others, and compassion, they really get it. I guess what I'm saying is "Character is higher than intellect." If you feel the same way, we will probably get along. (Not that the two are mutually-exclusive!)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently an underemployed working-class hero, applying for jobs in nuclear power plant operations. I probably shouldn't have said the N-word this early in the game, as it turns off a lot of environmental folks, but oh well, it's true. We can talk about it if you're skeptical.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh, going on some deep tangent (or being completely ridiculous) after a few beers, expressing my enthusiasm.
The first things people usually notice about me
I would hope that I'm engaging.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Universe is a Green Dragon, Omnivore's Dilemma, science books. Most of my reading takes place on the internet, honestly. Just finished, "Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman!," it was a kick! He is a personal hero.

My favorite movie is Forrest Gump. Shawshank Redemption, The Hangover, Coming to America, Meet the Parents, and Harold and Kumar are some good ones too. I kinda have a short attention span, so it's difficult for me to stick with a movie if I'm not feeling it.

TV: BBC TopGear, Family Guy, Daily Show/CR, 48 hours Mystery, Diners Drive-Ins and Dives - I don't care for the DDD host that much, but I love the places he visits, Man v. Food, Pawn Stars. I do like the Simpsons, but I never seem to watch it anymore, not sure why, always seem to miss it. Oh, workaholics has its moments and Tosh too. Some stand-up. Modern Marvels, Wings (about aircraft, not the sitcom), Cash Cab, Jeopardy, Planet Earth, Blue Planet, No Reservations.

Love all kinds of Music! In no particular order: Beatles/John Lennon, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eagles, Phish, Bob Marley, CCR, Dead, Santana, Sublime, some 90's rap - G-thang, Regulators etc, The Band, Clapton, Jimi, Led Zep, Doors, Dolly Parton, Nora Jones, Beethoven, Hank Williams, Beach Boys, Blues Traveler, Joplin, Johnny Cash, Queen, Tom Petty, Vivaldi, Kool and the Gang, Grace Potter, Chili Peppers, Freddie King, James Brown, Etta James, IZ, Naudo, Otis Redding, Weezer, Fastball, Marcy Playground, Leo Kottke, Doc Watson, Roy Orbison, The Platters, Brian Hyland, lots of early sixties songs, Niel Young, Cars, Oasis, and more. Probably forgetting some significant ones, but that is what comes to mind.

As I said, I'm really into energy, and that includes food! I love to cook and definitely look for local, environmentally-responsible products. I used to have chickens and can tell you pastured eggs are the way to go, keep your eye out for them. At least make sure your eggs are cage-free, google image battery-cages to see why...totally f*d up. My perfect meal is some pasta dish, salad, good bread, and with a proper glass of red wine. It just don't get no better in my book. I like beer, IPAs ( My favorite being Hop Ottin'! ) and pale ale (Sierra is pale ale perfection, imo) mostly, though if I'm eating, I prefer lighter stuff. I also like to drink yerba mate in the morning to start my day off on the right foot.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Have you ever had a lucid dream? I've had a few, but recently it hit me just how bizarre that state of consciousness is. It really struck me!
Mostly I think about other stuff though, all kinds of stuff. If I'm watching TV and hear something interesting, I'll immediately grab my netbook and google it. I'm interested in things across the spectrum.
On a typical Friday night I am
Lately, working. I'll usually have a beer or two after work with coworker friends and call it a night. When I'm not working I enjoy cooking a bomb meal with friends.
