So why should you bother meeting me?
- I'm both logical and creative, self-amused and happy around most people
- I'm a semi-pro musician in the Bay Area music scene--I will happily figure out and play your favorite pop songs on the spot for a minimal bribe ( suggestion: cupcakes )
- I know how to use slightly-outrageous, playfully-cynical humor to elicit laughter
- My work may one day change nature as we know it
- It's been said you should never trust a man who doesn't dance--you can trust me
- I have my life together and in order, but will regularly take time out to reflect on its wondrousness/inscrutability/ultimate insignificance
- I'm a great eating partner. I've literally been to hundreds of Bay Area restaurants, and my favorite cuisines are all of them, each of which I like a lot
- I'm surprisingly athletic
- I'm not really motivated by money, status, or power, but a little of each can be nice

During the day, I'm busy taming As, Cs, Gs and Ts in the name of genome science. At night, I trade blows with those pesky sharps and flats...

Here are some things I'm pretty good at:
- jazz / latin piano, groove and improvisation
- making crazy analogies that actually make sense after a few seconds
- modulating between "down-to-earth" and "in-the-clouds"
- staying up on society and the world, technology and sociological trends
- keeping a secret
- dancing with a woman, in a way that makes us both smirk with satisfaction
- using my hands to give pleasure ( I can give a shiatsu massage, and am very sensitive to touch )

I'm not so good at:
- driving my very first stick-shift car!

Songs that saved my life: Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, Gang Starr, Tribe Called Quest, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, The Cure, Trash Can Sinatras, The Smiths, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Schubert Lieder, CYHSY, Danny Tenaglia, Armand Van Helden, Ray Barreto, Cachao, James Brown, P-funk, Sly+Family Stone---anything that grooves like a muthasucka. And gotta say, Jackson 5 made some of the best pop ever!

Books: Raymond Carver, Anton Chekhov, Waiting For Godot, TS Eliot, Emerson, Chuang-tze, The Corporation, Gig, Moneyball, Freakonomics, David Sedaris ( esp. in audiobook form ). To stay informed, salon.com, the Economist, and nytimes.com are staples, plus NPR/PBS

Movies/TV: anything that leaves me speechless--like Lost In Translation, Annie Hall, Shawshank Redemption, Kurosawa, Wong Kar Wai, Clint Eastwood--or laughing uncontrollably--Ali G, The Office ( British esp. ), Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock and stand up comic Louis CK

I think I tend to get along best with people with a passion / curiosity of their own; other than that, just looking for a fun, sweet gal to share adventures and exploits with!
