I moved to Portland from the east coast based on a whim and some bad advice. I ended up loving it and stayed for college where I studied early American history. Few things excite me as much as primary sources and musty archives.

I really hate getting up early, but one of my favorite things is reading the paper and having a cup of coffee while everything is still quiet.

Apparently my face at rest is a scowl, and I'm constantly told by good friends that when they first met me they thought I was generally unfriendly or just didn't like them. It usually doesn't take them
long to realize I'm a pretty friendly guy.

My favorite movies are Superbad and Beasts of the Southern Wild, and my favorite books are The History of the Peloponnesian War, Lonesome Dove, and anything by John McPhee or Patrick O'Brien.

Not in order of importance: Coffee, The New York Times, family, my bike, friends and debating good friends.

My next adventure, hikes and bike rides I want to do, current events, gold and how to find it, Indian food and all of the books I want to read but don't have time to.
