I'm a caring, quiet, intelligent, friendly person. A lot of my time has been occupied with medical school for the past several years, but I am looking to expand my social circle.

I'm applying for Internal Medicine Residencies to complete my medical training. I'd like to stay in the Midwest to be close to my family, but it's too soon to say where I will end up.

Eventually, I plan to practice general internal medicine, maybe in a smallish city where I can see my patients in clinic and also take care of them when they are hospitalized. I don't plan to specialize, as I prefer being able to form strong relationships with patients and I like being the first point of contact for health care needs.

Given my interest in politics in general, I hope to be involved in public health policy to some degree. I'm not sure what form this will take, but I think that laws and policy inevitably influence health, so it's important that careful attention is paid to ensure that the influences are positive rather than negative.

Books: I generally don't have time to finish an entire book in a reasonable time, so most of my reading is news-magazines like Time and Newsweek. When I do have time for more substantial things, I like nonfiction including Malcolm Gladwell and Freakonomics. I read less fiction lately, but in the past have enjoyed the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Eyre Affair.

Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Trading Places, The Princess Bride, Saved, When Harry Met Sally, Toy Story, Shrek, Bend It like Beckham

Shows: How I Met Your Mother, The Office (US), Psych, Bones, Entourage, Cheers, WKRP in Cincinnati

Music: Classic rock in general, including Queen, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Boston, Styx, CCR, etc. I'm pretty open to other kinds of music as well. Shakira and other Latin music have a tendency to infiltrate my playlist.

Food: I'm generally not very adventurous with food, though I'm working on trying new things. Chicken Parmesan is what I order most often at restaurants, and I like Italian food in general. I also love whole wheat pasta and edamame.

Politics. I'm very interested in current events both nationally and on a state level. I am not, however, particularly partisan. I'm fairly centrist in my views and agree with certain points of both parties. In the last midterm election, I voted for both democrats and republicans. But, in addition to voting, I also just think that it's important to know what's going on in the world, even if I'm not spending much time protesting or writing letters to representatives. I listen to NPR in the mornings when I get ready, and Time magazine is basically my favorite thing to read (Newsweek is a close second). I hold some strong beliefs, but I also enjoy having them challenged by someone else who is well-informed and has carefully considered convictions as well.
