My self-summary
I love being creative. I love the arts and play the violin, so music is a big part of my life. I love to cook, mostly winging it sans recipe (though recipes are great for baking!) Love to fuse different foods and see what happens... and love to bring people together, too - so I host dinner parties with 12-15 friends every few months. We always have a fun time. (Note: some of my friends are competitive. Very competitive. This makes group games like Catch Phrase a memorable experience!) Last time we jammed together with 'found' musical instruments... entertaining for sure.

Last year I adopted my pup, Ginger (street name "Fluffy G"). She is hilarious at the dog park - some of the bigger dogs will chase her, but she's fast so she'll turn on them and start chasing them - she can hold her own! ;)

Love animals and have been vegetarian since 7th grade, so I don't eat meat, but don't mind if you cook/eat it. I love to cook (I'm part Italian and grew up in a house that constantly smelled of tomato sauce!), so bonus points if you like to load a dishwasher or if you like to cook, too!

I believe in the power of mindfulness, meditation, yoga, acupuncture, and food as medicine. We as animals have so much untapped intuitive potential within us and I'm so curious to learn more. I see that animals can read our energy better than we can and am fascinated how they pick up the smallest details (posture, tone of voice, overall energy).

It's important to me to take care of our planet and live in a thoughtful way. I'd love to see a recycling barrel next to every trash barrel in our cities and animals rescued from shelters rather than purchased from breeders. We've got to take care of each other. ;)

I try not to take myself too seriously. I laugh at myself (you should see me in full rain gear getup when I take Ginger out for a walk in the pouring rain!) and I watch the Daily Show, well, daily on hulu. Saw Jon Stewart in person and laughed for 90 minutes straight. My face hurt so much. It was amazing. Also a big fan of NPR.
What I’m doing with my life
During the day I manage programs in higher education. Outside of work and life with Ginger, I play the violin, swim, jog, and enjoy basketball games, especially college basketball. So psyched that March Madness is here!
I’m really good at
- Feeding myself and my dog tasty and healthy food
- My friends tell me I’m good at regaling them with funny stories (esp. where they involve imitations)
- Being persistent and working hard
- Being a loyal friend
- Being organized
- PI research (my friends often send me tough sleuthing cases)
The first things people usually notice about me
That I have a very enthusiastic dog!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Daily Show, Jon Stewart, Louie CK, Modern Family, Tina Fey; Argo, anything with Ben Stiller and/or De Niro, most NPR shows, especially Wait Wait Don't Tell Me; book about mindfulness, meditation, psychology, and leadership, and dog training; cheese, wine, and dark chocolate, fruit and veggies
The six things I could never do without
- My dog
- Chocolate... dark chocolate or truffles
- My iPhone (finally got on the bandwagon and am loving it!)
- Funny people in my life to swap stories with
- Homemade food (esp Italian, Mexican and Middle Eastern)
- My VitaMix
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- the environment and our planet
- how to train a dog (and how to train myself as her owner/parent!)
- fun adventures to plan with friends
- how to combine foods in new ways
On a typical Friday night I am
usually keeping it low-key... reserving the night for myself, to unwind after a busy work week at home or just wandering around Harvard Sq or meeting up with friends for happy hour
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My name was on Jeopardy. Circa 1994. A story best told in person.
