My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a pretty awesome dude. Witty, clever, sometimes sarcastic, other times insightful. I'm guilty of telling a dad-joke every once in a while but really, who isn't? I like to be active and out in the world. I'm prone to growing a beard, shaving it off, and then regrowing it.

I grew up in California and Montana, went to college and spent my twenties in South Carolina and Georgia, and now I've been in Portland for a little more than four years. I don't see myself moving again anytime soon.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Enjoying my thirties, working for a tax consulting firm, and trying to figure out the work/life balance thing. I keep telling myself I'm going to take up skiing or snowboarding, but it hasn't happened yet.

I'm trying my best to quit smoking. Wouldn't it be awesome if I could go back in time and never start? I'm down to three or four a day, mostly when I'm at work, and sometimes when I'm out drinking. I realize that's a deal-breaker for a lot of people, so I want to make sure I'm up-front about it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I have excellent recall, except when it comes to names. If you tell me an anecdote or a story, I'll remember it.

I have an extremely varied background and I can relate to people from many different walks of life. I come from a blue collar family and have worked many blue collar jobs, and I appreciate a hard day's work. It actually helps me a lot in my current career, as I can interact with people without the typical elitism and arrogance that so many lawyers have.

I've been on a nonfiction kick for the last year or two, but I think "Catch 22" is probably my favorite book ever. Tolkien, Steven King, and Edward Abbey were super important to me when I was a teenager, so I feel like I should include them in this list.

I'm in love with pretty much every movie by Tarantino, David Lynch, or the Coen Brothers.

I tend to listen to music that is folk-rocky. Mountain Goats, Will Oldham, and the Handsome Family are perennials. That's not to say I'm picky though. I can appreciate almost all genres of music, especially if it's live.

I'm a huge fan of Steven Colbert, Archer, and NPR.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Political blogs, cheese, running shoes, and you know, like water and shelter and stuff.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The worst color in a box of Crayolas.

Whether I like the way I look better with or without a beard. Any insight is welcome.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
It all depends. I enjoy meeting friends at dive bars and seeing live music. I'm not a dance-club person.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I go jogging I tend to listen to old Bruce Springsteen and Prince hits from way back when I was incapable of speech.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're witty and a bit sarcastic. You enjoy both serious conversations and glib, lighthearted exchanges. You enjoy people watching and exploring new places and while you like to have a plan you're never afraid to toss it aside and do something spontaneous. Also, if you can help me find new dives to check out and new hikes to explore, I'd love to hear from you.
