I am in the forest, falling, and making a sound.

My Self-Summary

i don't think i'm meant to write profiles. they lack life and dialogue. i can't gauge the growing vacancy in your eyes, or the furrowed brow when i say something off color and overly honest. and sarcasm.....well that's really a lost art without intonation. oh well. since none of that will give you any idea how to start a conversation with me, i'm a normal guy who does mostly normal things. i work too hard, i eat everything (almost), i exercise too little, and i thank g-d that i have good genes despite all that. i don't sleep, which catches up with me rarely. i'm addicted to jim lehrer news hour, nytimes.com, slashdot, stewart/colbert, and my neighbor's cat - despite my allergies. i'm not religious, but i'm spiritual...but not in that hokey hippy sort of way. i believe strongly in the meanings of words and more so in our actions despite them. and i still dream of owning a sailboat.

ok, i have updates.

my neighbor moved away months ago so i should really stop mentioning her cat. i mean, let's face it - i just lied to you about my own life story and it hasn't even been 2 paragraphs. unfortunately, i like the rhythm it provides, so you'll have to accept this little white lie. it'll be the last, i assure you.

i now work in the city and would love excuses to traipse around. if you have ideas, i'd love to hear them. if you're as clueless as i am, pick a direction and let's get lost together.

What I’m doing with my life

falling in love with all the pretty suits and ornate building tops in nyc. silently orgasming over the view of ellis island and the statue of liberty from my office bathroom. searching for friends who would rather spend a friday night creating a family legend to tell my grand kids than a story of some mildly interesting poker hand of no consequence. collecting dirty stories and risque ads from the metro.

I’m really good at

being myself, despite peer pressure.
succinct expression.
writing incessantly when i'm nervous or don't know you well enough to find comfortable silence enjoyable.
talking actions and objects up to my brain.

The first things people usually notice about me

height i guess. i remember 1 time at college, someone coming up to me and saying, "you're a tiny man." i guess my parents didn't get the memo.

my laugh. it's loud and obnoxious to some, hearty and heart-warming to others, but always distinct.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The six things I could never do without

i've gone without almost everything at one point or another. i'm adaptive; i'll survive.

Editors

I spend a lot of time thinking about

the daily news. not because i have any political aspirations, but because it's a story in constant flux with plenty to think about.

random things that might make good poems. here's a quick sample:

Confidant

Next to your skin, I do not own you
and still I enthrone you on
the breath of the night.
Under your skin, I let you own me -
spread pure like the willow tree.
Please forgive the light.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

i've been correcting my dyslexic typing left and right. if i'm in a hurry, be prepared. also, capitalization has a time and a place.

i'm an avid anime watcher. i could hide this from you, but it would come out eventually.

i hate being content for too long - it's too motionless.

You should message me if

you're honest, curious, and can handle a bit of randomness. also, communication skills are key. finally, you should be willing to eventually meet in person. it's important to be safe, but you're more interesting when i can see your eyes smile.
