My self-summary
Holiday update: this is a crazy busy month for me (kids, work, Xmas, etc.) and I'm not planning on visiting this site too often. So, don't take it personally if you don't hear from me.

Note: I'm looking for a well educated, professional and gainfully employed guy. Trust me, we're all better off that way! ; )

First, don't pass me by just because I have short hair. Better yet, I hope you like a woman not afraid to take risks like cut off all her hair from time to time (I do grow it back out once in a while!).

I'm here to find someone to spend some time with, to talk to, share a bit of life with. Life's too short to not take any chances, so if you're debating about contacting me- go for it! I'm open, friendly and warm but with a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Kind of the girl next door with a bit of an edge - looking for the boy next door with an edge of his own.

I'm a walking dichotomy in most things. I love trying new things, but I'm happy sitting and relaxing in front of the TV. I'm very high energy, but in a mellow way. I'm straightforward and know what I want, but I'm relaxed about it all. I have two small children who are with me every other week, but I'm tired of all the down time my weeks off. I do like being on my own, but not all the time!

What I'm looking for ... Someone who has a strong, but flexible outlook on life and likes to live for the moment as much as they are able to plan things. A sense of humor is vital, one that has progressed slightly since 7th grade please! I was raised on Monty Python and Woody Allen if that gives you any hint on my sense of humor. Someone who takes care of themselves, is equally comfortable in jeans or getting dressed up to go out. (That describes me too, by the way!) Someone who is relatively comfortable in their own skin, and knows who they are. I'm big into cultural things like film, music, art, theater etc. and while I don't expect you to share all of my interests, being somewhat interested in those things will definitely help!

I am confident, intelligent, and an eternal optimist and romantic - even though this online dating world tries its best to beat that out of me!
What I’m doing with my life
After being a nomad most of my adult life, I'm enjoying spending time with my two young children (10 and 7), being there for my family and friends and trying to get my career back on track after working from home for several years. I'm a copywriter for a not-for-profit organization and really enjoy my job and the people I work with.

After a miserable marriage, I'm just trying to live life on a daily basis and be the person my kids deserve me to be.
I’m really good at
Listening and being there to help when my loved ones need it. Saying the inappropriate comment that everyone is thinking but not saying in the middle of a meeting. And laughing at movies in the theater when no one else is laughing. (It's either something you'll appreciate or be annoyed by ...)

I also think I'm a pretty good mom, daughter and sister - at least no one has told me otherwise yet!
The first things people usually notice about me
My laugh, my upbeat personality and my sarcastic sense of humor. (I'd say something trite like my eyes etc., but thought I'd be different ...)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have to admit I'm a bit of a sci-fi geek. Was raised on Star Trek, remember standing in line the first time I saw Star Wars and even helped run a comic book/science fiction store in a former life!

Books: The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion (I could relate to it in a heartbreaking kind of way), Franny and Zooey by Salinger (a fav since high school) and anything by Milan Kundera. And my guilty pleasures are Stephen King and Anne Rice.

Movies: Too many to mention, I'm a major movie buff. But some of my top ones are Blade Runner, When Harry Met Sally, Closer, The Philadelphia Story and Some Like it Hot.

Music: Loved David Bowie since I was five, haven't changed my mind since. Coldplay, Ella Fitzgerald, Snow Patrol, U2, Billie Holiday and many more ... (I've maxed out my iPod)

Food: Mexican (but I'm a wimp for spicy), Japanese, Chinese and good Italian.
The six things I could never do without
My kids (of course)
My maxed out iPod
Cherry Coke Zero
Nonfat Chai Latte from Starbucks (when I feel like splurging)
Frank Lloyd Wright architecture
Movies (with buttered popcorn)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What makes people tick. It's a compulsion of mine. Friends, family, whomever, I like to empathize and try to understand why they do what they do. Futile exercise, I realize. But it doesn't stop me from trying!
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends on what week it is. If I have the kids, we're usually watching a kid-friendly movie piled on the couch together cuddling with a bowl of popcorn for each of us and a big cozy blanket on our laps.

The weeks I don't have my kids I'm either out having a cosmo with my girlfriends, out at a must-see new release movie, on a date (hopefully) or home relaxing from a stressful week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That when I was 7, I wanted to be a stewardess when I grew up (sorry, they weren't called flight attendants back then!) Other than that, I'd have to get to know you better first!
