I am amiable, amicable, and ardent.

My Self-Summary

I'm Ryan. I live on Capitol Hill in Seattle in a tiny apartment and read books. I also spend some of my time writing stories and poems. Recently I've rediscovered a love for photography. An inordinate amount of time is spent walking. Welcome to autumn.

What I’m doing with my life

Ink on paper.

I’m really good at

Paying attention.

The first things people usually notice about me

I hope the answer isn't awkward-ness.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books are like food. I'm not picky, but discerning. I'm currently going through a Proust phase, but that's probably going to last years and you really shouldn't judge me completely on that. My favorite poet is Heather McHugh, if that gives you any information.

Music: Neko Case. The Decemberists. Typical.

Radio: This American Life, Radiolab Television: Not so much. Food: I'm currently undergoing vegetarianism.

The six things I could never do without

1. Books.
2. TYPEWRITERS!
3. Old buildings, probably with books in them.
4. Cauliflower.
5. The U.S. Postal Service.
6. National Public Radio

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The world, mostly. Things in books, things on the street, things in my head. Characters I've thought up. Places to see.

On a typical Friday night I am

At the end of a pier drinking champagne and eating blueberries with some lovely human beings. Or maybe that was a dream.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

One glass of wine will have me telling you launch sequences.

You should message me if

I intrigue you. If you like to send letters, wherever you live , you can send me a message and we'll start a pen pal-ship. I'll write you one on my typewriter.
