I'm a quirky, passionate, and active guy. I love my family and friends and try to drag them along on all of my adventures. I take my actions and how they impact others very seriously, whether that pertains to kindness or causing trouble. I've lived in DC for quite awhile now and keep finding new things to keep me busy. I'm involved in local philanthropy, theater, gay sports (re: games), and all the nerdy things. I travel a lot for work and pleasure, but also love to be back home. I'm looking for someone to discover new experiences with, but also someone who is (eventually) interested in building a life together.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to make the world a better/healthier/happier place. I work for a health advocacy nonprofit, where I have been for nearly 11 years (which sounds totally crazy now that I've typed it). It's exciting and I'm lucky to be able to devote myself to something I care about. Sometimes it can also be emotionally draining, so a bottle of wine and a movie will rarely be turned down.
Getting to know those around me and myself better. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping others turn their ideas into reality. I have an amazing network of people to support me and I appreciate when my friends and family know and love each other.
Staying involved in my community. Whether through theater, fundraising, events, or board game nights, I feel a connection to DC and want to contribute something to the city.
I’m really good at
Seeing the good in people. Speaking the truth without pissing people off. Causing trouble. Synthesizing seemingly disparate information into one coherent thought.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In literature and movies, I love historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian YA fiction, and anything weird. Music-wise, I definitely like anything you can dance to, whether that is Motown, classic rock, or electro-pop. I'm also into hip hop and electronic music. Food, well... I love almost all food and lots of it. Though I think peaches are the devil's fruit. The Bible clearly got it wrong.
The six things I could never do without
I'm not sure there is anything that I could *never* do without. I mean, losing any of my senses would be rough, but people are pretty resilient. But, I would have trouble living without my family, books, scotch, people who challenge me, a job I love, and travel (especially my yearly birthday trip to New Orleans).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Odd story, play, or board game ideas. What kind of mischief I can cause. What my next meal will be.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually dinner with friends, parties, and dancing. Sometimes board games or a good book, if it's been a long week.
You should message me if
You view life as an opportunity to learn and experience new things. I'm really into people that are passionate about their lives, even if they don't have the same interests as me.
