I am practically perfect, wonderfully witty, and a little sarcastic.
My Self-Summary
I enjoy
witty
banter, sarcasm, and bombastic parlance. I like pretending to
be rich and perusing fine galleries for objets d'art,
volunteerism, watching
movies cuddled up
on the sofa, going to
shows and festivals, and watching trashy
reality television in my sweat pants. I'm looking for someone who
makes me laugh. I am fun-loving, and enjoy having a good
time.
I like getting dirty
hiking and
camping, but equally love getting back,
showering, and going out to dinner! I like to go out for a few days
when I go camping, and hiking in far from the trailhead. I grew up
in eastern North Carolina not too far from the coast, so I love
being out on the water, but love getting out in the
mountains (the
beach is still like home).
Basically, I love the
outdoors. And if there's a band playing
outside, even better.
I have friends all over the country (and world, for that matter),
and love visiting them!
Traveling is akin to breathing for me.
At some point in my life I want to backpack around Europe for a
couple of months. I like saving up money for a couple of months and
running off to a new city for a long weekend for the hell of it. I
live and work in a pretty structured environment, so
spontaneity in any
realm of my life is always welcome.
I'm hopeful that one day, I will find someone with whom I can fully
be myself. I want someone to come home to, someone to sleep in on
Saturday mornings with, someone to watch PBS with. It's not that I
feel totally alone and desperate for a guy to fill some kind of
void, I simply crave what has eluded me for the past 25 years-a
loving relationship.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in everyone's favorite industry: banking.
Please don't hate me.
I'm also taking online and distance courses at Chapel Hill...after
making some unwise decisions in my youth, I am resuming my
education and will one day have that elusive piece of paper hanging
on my wall (in an ostentatious frame with Carolina Blue matting and
a little inset of the Old Well).
I’m really good at
Making people laugh, working the room at a dinner party, singing
along with every song, practicing the lost art of conversation,
drinking club soda while everyone else thinks it's a G&T, and
sleeping.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair, my accent, my smile, and my laughter.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Favorite books: A Confederacy of Dunces, Jitterbug Perfume, Run
With the Horsemen, Cry, the Beloved Country, The Poisonwood Bible,
To Kill a Mockingbird, Siddhartha, Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas,
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Favorite movies: The Royal Tenenbaums, The Graduate, American
Psycho, The Big Chill, Election, Rushmore, Auntie Mame, Wet Hot
American Summer, Grey Gardens (both the original documentary and
the HBO movie)
Favorite bands: CCR, DMB, Grateful Dead, String Cheese Incident,
Bela Fleck (both with and without The Flecktones), James Taylor,
John Denver, Jackson Browne, Donna Summer, Simon & Garfunkel,
Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young), The B-52s, The Avett Brothers,
Arcade Fire, Van Morrison, pretty much everything that isn't
modern-day-pop-hip-hop-py-synthesized crap.
Favorite things to eat: White lasagna, bourbon chocolate pecan pie,
hot dogs & baked beans, pan-fried trout (that I just caught
while camping), spicy tuna rolls (and tempura asparagus rolls for
that matter), cream chipped beef on English muffins, cheese toast,
pepperoni and ham pizzas, filet mignon (served VERY rare), pork
chops and fried apples, and chocolate raspberry cheesecake.
The six things I could never do without
Music.
Books.
Love.
Humor.
Friends.
Hope.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Leaving it all behind and backpacking around the world.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home, recovering from working all week. I used to go out a lot,
but I think those days are pretty much behind me. But if a good
band is playing, I'm there. Or I might be out camping.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'll get back to this one later...
You should message me if
You think I'm someone you'd like to talk to...obvi.
I am not a big fan of those whose personalities are defined by
their sexuality. Yes, I am gay, but that's just a given; it does
not define me in any way other than the fact that I date men. Take
that for what it's worth.
Also, please be of independent means. I'm not looking to be a sugar
daddy at 25. Thanks!
