My self-summary
Midwestern boy grows up with dreams of being an astronaut, attends university south of the Mason-Dixon, moves abroad, travels the world, finds himself, falls asleep in an airport, wakes up in Texas.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a very professional job that requires a lot of fist slamming and demanding things be done yesterday. Occasionally I drink half a bottle of scotch at lunch and then spend the afternoon calling people into my corner office so I can criticize their poor typeface choices and unprofessional dress (we are trying to run fortune 500 companies here, not lemonade stands!).

After I am done making this invaluable contribution to society you will probably find me reading, playing softball, stargazing, cooking something overly involved for my skill level or planning an elaborate and ridiculous event for my friends (like this one time I bubble wrapped my entire apartment).

Also, I had a fencing career that was prematurely ended by a freak kickball accident. Thank you SPARKS.
I’m really good at
High fives.
Being completely honest.
Connecting more than four in Connect4.
Smuggling myself into new nationalities.
The first things people usually notice about me
First: I'm completely over dressed for the occasion.
Second: Was that a complement or a thinly veiled insult?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books:
Dumas, Le Guin, Marquez, Nabokov, Twain, Verne, Vonnegut and PG Wodehouse. Not Joyce.

movies:
Fight club, 2001: A Space Odyssey, everything with Nicholas Cage. Tarantino. Hitchcock. Loads of classic film. If Studio Ghibli made it, I <3 it.

shows:
Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who. Cosmos. Honestly, if it doesn't have a sword, a spaceship or Tina Fey in it, I am probably not interested.

It has recently come to my attention that, after being mercilessly teased for liking these things during my formative years, that they are now "cool". Amazing.

music:
Belle & Sebastian, Man or Astroman?, The Weakerthans, Tullycraft. Anything recorded on a 4-track or sounds like it's being played in a garage. All the dumb punk rock I listened to in High School.

I used to manage a college radio station! WUOG 90.5FM

food:
Anything spicy enough to illicit tears. (try me)
Anything I cannot identify or pronounce. (try me)

There is a rule in my family that you have to love ice cream. My grandfather ate a giant bowl every night and he was the happiest and healthiest person I have ever known. If you are unable or unwilling to meet this requirement you will not be introduced to my parents.
The six things I could never do without
Single estate tea, Passport(s), abebooks.com, cardigans, Cadbury, Final Fantasy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I just read, what to read next, which edition of a book to buy. I have a library in my house with almost every book I've ever read in a meticulously selected hardcover volume.

Where I just traveled, where to travel next, where I have been that I would like to visit again. Why, after being to 40 countries across six continents, there is always somewhere else to go.
On a typical Friday night I am
Leaving an important item behind at Mugshots' happy hour. Seeing a show on the east side. Dancing on the west side. Singing karaoke on South Congress. Drinking manhattans at the Driskill. Reading a book and going to sleep early so I can watch college football on Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a molotov cocktail in a bottle of Dom Perignon.

You appreciate being treated like a lady and would like to meet a successful man that has his life together. It's a stretch, I know.
