I am mostly calm, relatively upbeat, and wildly optimistic.
My Self-Summary
I like to keep busy and I am enthusiastic about nature, good music
and progressive science. I've lived in 5 different cities over the
past 5 years so it's nice to finally settle down for a bit and find
my place in Boston. I love rock climbing and climbing mountains
when mountains are available. For more creative pursuits I like to
play guitar, write music and shoot black and white photography. I
collect antique photographs and interesting objects that I find
during urban explorations. One of my favorite things to do is go to
shows and check out awesome bands.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a Chicago cycle courier turned biochemist in Boston's vibrant
research community. Let's just say that was a positive life
decision. Every day in this beautiful city validates my decision to
come here.
I’m really good at
Urban cycling and making six strings sing.
The first things people usually notice about me
My disarming smile. Drop your weapons.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like any books by John Irving, Barbara Kingsolver, and more
recently Dave Eggers. I also love Raymond Carver's short story
collections.
My favorite film is Wristcutters followed closely by Chasing Amy.
Most of my favorite films were written by Kevin Smith or Wes
Anderson.
Sonic Youth is most definitely my favorite band...but maybe Hot Rod
Circuit too. I also love Ben Harper and his many different bands. I
think Glassjaw has written some of the most honest music I have
ever heard.
My favorite food used to be sushi but I recently went vegetarian so
I guess I'm on a search for a new favorite food. Any suggestions?
The six things I could never do without
my guitars
my bike (pedals not motor)
Nico my awesome dog
mutual attraction
independent music
morning coffee
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Well...my only goal in life is to play in an outlaw country band.
Someone will play pedal steel and someone can play a hollow body
telecaster and I'll play an old acoustic. We'll write protest
songs...and songs about the open road and women that have done us
wrong. We'll always make sure to stop by little towns like Boise or
Saskatoon or Grand Junction when we're out on tour. We'll have a
real rugged name...like...oh I don't know...it will be rugged
though. And we'll all have beards and tatoos and stories.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends at Publik House or checking out a show at
one of Boston's many fine venues! Great Scott is my favorite venue
in town.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I once drove from Boulder to Boston in a car with no radio. I'm not
sure that's very private but there was a lot of zen-like thinking
time on that trip.
You should message me if
You found my profile intriguing. Also it would help if you weren't
too shy to meet in real life...sometimes this connection via the
wires is just too impersonal.
