I won't lie, I'm fairly unrepentantly nerdy. I play video games. I
read (and write) fantasy books. I like movies with a lot of action.
I'm definitely artistic, I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors and I have
a stable career, but I'm not the type to mask what I like.
I'm looking for people who are fond of the same things I am: books,
movies, wine, physical activity, conversation and dogs. I can get
along with just about anyone who isn't, you know, horrifying.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an author, actually. Not a self-published one, either! I'm
published in a few different countries with a few different houses
and I quite like it.
I’m really good at
I wordsmith like the dickens. My eloquence will elevate and my
diction drives the peoples wild.
I make a mean dish of curry. Seriously, yo. I don't mean it's just
tasty, I mean it is straight-up MEAN. It will slap you and
insinuate that you can't pull those jorts off (and it's right, no
one looks good in jorts).
I'm really good with puns. I still think puns are the highest form
of humor, since they elicit the strongest emotional response
(mostly anger, but still!)
Above all, though, I'm very, very good at making people laugh, in
spite of (or perhaps because of) my love of puns.
The first things people usually notice about me
Possibly my being 6'4". Or my hair (it's pretty fantastic).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I think my favorite book of all time is SHOGUN by James Clavell
(tough choice, though, I've been reading for a long, long
I'm dearly fond of THE FIRST LAW, THE LIES OF LOCKE LAMORA, A SONG
OF ICE AND FIRE, THE GATES OF FIRE, JOHN DIES AT THE END and THIS
BOOK IS FULL OF SPIDERS.
I've been reading a lot of YA lately, as well. VESSEL is a
favorite. THE HUNGER GAMES was amazing. AMAZING. Don't talk to me
about the sequels, though. Just don't. I'm not ready to admit they
Past that, there are way too many to recount. I've developed a
thing for North Korean biographies lately, though (NOTHING TO ENVY
by Barbara Demick comes highly recommended).
I tend to rotate out my favorite movies, but right now I think I'm
really in love with SHUTTER.
I'm a big fan of rap and hip hop. Lupe Fiasco is definitely a
favorite artist of mine.
The six things I could never do without
Books, definitely. Probably wine as a close second. Oxygen, I
think, would probably be necessary, as well as water. Past that,
I'd say car and computer bring up the rear.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Oh man. I don't know if I should answer this. I mean, I do the
typical worries: future, career, that sort of thing. But sometimes,
I spend a lot of time wondering about completely inane garbage,
like exactly how I would plan to survive a hippopotamus attack
(they say climb a tree, but I have my doubts about that).
I stop shy of telling people this. Or I did, anyway.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually out, if I'm not working. I'm generally in a wine bar or
carousing downtown. I still enjoy going out without being
completely ham-handedly drunk.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once designed, mixed and consumed an alcoholic beverage I dubbed
It changed lives.
You should message me if
Honestly? If you have something going on.
Also, if you have more in your profile than "loving life and love
to laugh." I'm totally pumped that you like to do that, but it
doesn't seem to lead to a lot of good conversation.
