My self-summary
I am a fixer, photographer, Computer Ninja, Linux bigot, Subaru Enthusiast, Apple fanboy, open source junkie, has "Technology A.D.D.", programmer, car junkie, IT professional, an idea man, has business acumen, and has dry hands.

I am definitely a Type A type of person. Things have to get done and done right. I have personal, career, and financial goals that I revise often, and for the most part I achieve them. I have a huge DIY streak in me. Maybe it's ego but I don't believe car mechanics or electricians possess some sort of magical skill. I will read into how to do something then do it myself. You will never find me at an auto shop who can't figure me how to get a light bulb in.

Unique things about me...
*When I worked at a Quiznos in high school I hated sweeping the floor, and loved to wash dishes. Everyone else I worked with wanted the opposite.
*I love to talk to bus drivers, taxi drivers, or other people at the airport. Most think they have a boring job but they get to meet interesting people all day long.
*I consider Battlestar Galactica to be the best TV series ever made. There is drama, action, and some of the best character development ever seen in a TV series.
*One of my favorite bikes is a Dahon folding bike. I wish I had more reasons to use it. I almost want to spend a month in New York so I can use it everyday.
*I was vice president of the Computer Club in high school. Because even then I wasn't a natural leader.
*I took 15 hours of classes for a summer semester in college in order to graduate on time.
*Setting expectations is important to me. I'm not always on-time but if I'm late I will let you know before I get there.
*Growing up I spent many summers in Hawaii with family picking Lychee from my grandparents property. It was an amazing experience and I sold the Lychee to farmers market merchants, which gave me some spending money. Oddly I'm not fond of Lychee.
*I have been accused of being an elitist by past partners. I tend not to think of myself that way, but as very opinionated of who I associate with. I grew up very middle class so I guess I don't know poverty. I have no interest in associating myself with people who do drugs or don't work for a living, or blame their troubles on 'the man'.
*I spent most of my college years living with a gay, republican, gun owning roommate. I am about as tolerant as anyone could be since I am none of those, we are still great friends.
*I love to thrift store, antique, or pawn shop. I'm always looking for a rare or unique find. Dolly Python in Dallas is one of my favorites. The best thrift store find I had recently was 10lbs of Legos for $15 in this shop off South Congress in Austin. When I'm out on the road for work I try to find cool and unique shops to check out.
What I’m doing with my life
Working a fair bit, probably be considered a workaholic. I work as an IT Consultant specializing in automation and enterprise monitoring. I do travel a fair bit for work, usually Monday through Thursday though. But, it comes and goes in spurts.

Working on some writing to hopefully at some point give a speech at the 'Open Stage'.

Trying to lose some weight. I've been on this fasting one day a week diet which I'm actually quite happy with. I'm a little worried I'll gain it back when I'm on the road but I'm determined to get to healthy weight this year.

I got out of a relationship of several years and I want to get 'out' and do more. For 2013 I'd like to see a Roller Derby, take a cooking class (done), take a continuing education class (done), see a Burlesque show, see what dueling pianos bar is all about (done), see the Perot Museum, and get the coordination to hula hoop.

I've thought about selling most of my stuff and moving to New York. The line from Baz Luhrmann's "Everybody's Free To Wear Sunscreen" "Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard" comes to mind.
I’m really good at
I am really good at my job, building solutions and fixing things. I love learning new technologies and building new solutions.

Finding problems and overanalyzing, and over-reseraching them. Wikipedia is my Kryptonite, I could spend days reading off into wild tangents.

I'm really good at automating things. If a computer can perform a task for me then all the better. I have scripts running on linux severs I run that search for rare cars I'd like to buy, to having accurate weather displayed at all times. My co-workers who are computer people think I'm a nerd, I probably am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have an obsession with memoirs, and biographies and serial fiction. I love Diablo Cody, Orson Scott Card, Douglas Adams, Sarah Vowell, reading about Howard Hughes Jr. My goal for 2013 is to average a book a week. If you have any suggestions for any dystopian novels let me know I loved Hunger Games Trilogy and Divergent/Insurgent. I heard a story on NPR a while ago about re-reading books from high school/college. So I'm in the middle of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, and OSR's Ender's Game (partially because I'm excited for the new movie).

I really love statistic and nerdy blogs. Some of my favorites OkCupids Statistics blog! (http://blog.okcupid.com/), XKCD's What If (http://what-if.xkcd.com/), and FiveThirtyEight (http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/ at least when there is an election).

Mythbusters, Top Gear, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead. I've recently discovered this British series called 'Black Mirror' and every episode is so amazingly mind blowing.

I do love a movie where the bad guy wins. Think of all the great movies where the baddie wins, Swordfish, The Italian Job, Oceans 11/12/13, The Empire Strikes Back, and most of the Godfather series. I like 'Manic Pixie Dream Girl' trope movies like Garden State.

As of late I don't listen to much music outside of soundtracks.

I am a huge NPR addict. I listen to everything, Fresh Air, All things Considered, This American Life, Car Talk, RadioLab and anything else on KERA. My cars (with radios) have KERA on constantly.

I love Sushi, Mexican, Thai, Caribbian, Hawaiian (Loco Moco is my go-to comfort food), Vegan whatever. But I do tend to stay away from super spicy stuff so I tend not to do southern Indian food all that much.
The six things I could never do without
Family, Job, Car, Macbook Pro, Linux server, NPR
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I am currently on a quest to restore a Classic Mini Cooper. I can hardly explain the appeal to most people. It's not fast, it's tricky to drive, but the pure primal joy of throwing a car around a corner and feeling the road in your fingertips is just driving ecstasy.

The next business venture or thing I can learn so I can build something else.

Why people can't be honest on OKC. I try very hard to accurately portray myself but the research suggests most people add 2 inches to their height, and report higher income than they really have. If you want to build a relationship from this site, shouldn't you be truthful on your profile at least?
On a typical Friday night I am
Maybe at the airport. Reading something good hopefully, or out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I ran a Natalie Imbruglia fan site when I was younger.
I’m looking for

You should message me if
I'm really looking for someone who is independent and successful in their own life. I have my own dreams and goals and I expect you to have the same. I cannot accept apathy in a partner.

I am looking for a relationship. Historically I've been serially monogamous, and had very long relationships. I get that relationships have to start somewhere but that is my intention.

In general I would want to date an Atheist or Agonistic, but I might consider someone who was moderately religious but I have no interest in converting. I have faith in myself and life experiences not some dogmatic set of rules or a book or what a bunch of pundits think. If you think I'm going to hell, I can live with you thinking that.

I will be out front with the fact that I got out a very long relationship a few months ago. There is a child involved even though she is not my biological or legal child I still love the kid. As such I intend on keeping up my relationship with the child. I love the kid with all my heart and it's not something I can give up on. The kid does not live with me but does visit on occasion. I don't expect any potential partner to take on this responsibility. If you can't understand this, then I guess you should move on.
