Welcome to my humble little profile. I consider myself a bit of a
nerd, and I'm definitely looking for someone similar. I'm a bit shy
at first, but I open up once I get to really know and trust
someone. And once I do, I do like to get a bit silly and goofy,
especially for laughs. I also consider myself a bit sarcastic and
contrarian. INTJ, if you're into that sort of thing.
I prefer the quiet life a little bit; I'm much happier doing
anything indoors than anything in a bar or club. I admittedly
struggle in social situations (in a way, a lot of us here doing
online dating probably do to some extent). I'm definitely looking
for someone who understands that, and maybe struggles as much as I
do. There's a comfort level for me in having someone like me in
I guarantee some will see the above paragraph as an auspicious sign
of weakness; I see it as the opposite, putting this out there.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working as a technical writer in a law firm. I help
write patents. It's a lot less sexy than it sounds, and it sounds
pretty unsexy to begin with. And even though it says "law" in that
job field over there, I'm the farthest thing from a lawyer.
I’m really good at
I'm a very logical person. I have computer science and math
degrees, so just apply your stereotypes liberally on that front. I
had a failed stint as a video game programmer, which fits perfectly
in this section. Right?
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm told I have a ridiculous smile to the point people will try to
make me laugh just to bring it out. Also that I can be goofy as
hell once someone gets to know me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I feel like my TV/movie tastes are wide-open. I'll watch almost
anything, and criticize or praise most everything. A couple quick
lists of my favorites:
Top TV shows of today: The Venture Bros., Parks and Rec, Mad Men,
Futurama, The Jack Bauer Power Hour (24). Of yesteryear: Buffy,
Veronica Mars, Arrested Development, Firefly. Also, for some
reason, anime is starting to really interest me.
Top movies: Office Space, Rounders, basically the entire
filmographies of Hayao Miyazaki (someone save Studio Ghibli plz)
and Satoshi Kon, Lost in Translation, Major League. More recently,
Before Midnight (or the entire Before trilogy), Young Adult, Safety
Music: I'm indifferent to it.
Food: I eat it.
The six things I could never do without
1) chicken quesadillas
3) the Internet
4) a cell phone to stare at in the corner of parties
5) the ability to use fancy words in ordinary circumstances
On a typical Friday night I am
not doing anything particularly different from Monday-Thursday
night. Being grown-up sucks.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a Chicago sports fan in Milwaukee/Packer territory...and I like
the idea of dating the enemy.
You should message me if
Hey, if you made it this far down, you might as well. Hopefully I
finagled your interest. Or even if I didn't, criticize. Or insult.
