Naturally optimistic, slightly-slapstick wordy geek / text-maniac, honest, reasonably well-travelled (but not a road warrior), INTJ, sterile by NSV (highly recommended; painless! :-).

I'm mainly looking for a girl who's similar (not too similar!) for that whole LTR thang. Cross-grained genius chowhound, ideally. If you don't fit that epithet and you'd still like to make friends, I'd be pleased to hear from you.

I'm also partway through an Open University B.Sc. Computing degree; this is mostly interesting and useful, but is taking most of my non-work time.

Fixing things -- typically using duct tape, coat hangers, perl and a hammer -- and figuring out how to replace the magic smoke.

Pushing old thrift-store and new tech books at cow-orkers; pushing bit.ly links at online friends ;-)

Books more recently: Tipping the Velvet, The Emperor of Scent, The Secret of Scent; all just brilliant. Freakonomics, The Tipping Point, Blink; geeky fun. Heaps of others, mainly bio / history / travelogue ('cause fiction gives me guilt-trips otherwise :)

I'm looking forward to getting my not-yet-read copy of HeLa back from the pal to whom I loaned it ("her" ? :-)

The Foglios' GirlGenius; "She's.. she's heterodyning!" just slays me.

TV: House, Boston Legal, any David Attenborough.

Music: I'm still carrying a torch for Janis Joplin :-) Old rock by choice (e.g. Ferry covering Dylan), but happy with anything except Rap/House.

Foods: Italian/American/Mexican/Chinese for preference, but catholic tastes; anything from sushi to (rarely) McDonalds.

Smart'n'funny people; cute girl to giggle with, passport'n'Amex; great books; and a fast Internet connection would be nice too...
