What I’m doing with my life
I am a social worker, doing clinical work with individuals who are
formerly homeless. I live with my dog in Brooklyn and love
exploring this amazing borough. I often wander around with friends
or solo looking for small stores, houses of cuisine and hangouts (
I like the small gems).
Although New York is my home,I was raised on Long Island, I have
lived in both Colorado and DC. I admit that many times I find
myself yearning for the tranquility of mountain living and easy
access to green spaces. I smile at strangers often and walk slowly
to take in my surroundings. In this wild metropolis, which I do
love and haven't given up on just yet, I seek out home-grown people
and places.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh, laughing at myself, scoping out the latest and
greatest bars and restaurants, encouraging others to be spontaneous
(road trip anyone?), advocating for myself and others.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile (usually my standard expression) and mouth (I'm loud and
proud)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: I enjoy a variety of fiction as well as memoirs. I often
deffer to Queen Oprah for my reading list but favorite authors
include Paul Austere, Zadie Smith, David Sedaris and Augusten
Burroughs.
Movies: Best in Show, Napoleon Dynamite, Revenge of the Nerds, Wet
Hot American Summer,American Splendor, Amelie, Almost Famous,
Zoolander. (Big fan of comedies and documentaries)
TV: 24, Project Runway, Top Chef, Entourage, Californication, Curb
your Enthusiasm, Daily Show, Six Feet Under, The Wire,
Intervention
Music: Eykah Badu, Matisyahu, Michael Franti, Joni Mitchell, Yonder
Mountain String Band, Stevie Wonder, Jamiraqua. I dig bluegrass,
reggae, acoustic numbers and funk, but can also rock out to just
about anything including top 40 like my gals Beyonce and Shakira.
The six things I could never do without
1. Sunshine
2. Technology (ipod & spell check are paramount)
3. My canine "Rudy"
4. Family
5. Finding meaning in my daily work (self-worth)
6. Cowboy Boots (made for my ramblings)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything and anything. Lets just simply say that my imagination
is a very active place. I am a dreamer...
On a typical Friday night I am
Fridays for me are typically low key and spent with friends. I am
not a club girl but rather enjoy to go to lounges, dive bars,
breweries or houses of mixology. If beat from the week (happening
with increased frequency) I lay low and cuddle on the couch with my
canine and a beverage to soak in a DVD or catch up on DVR'd tv from
the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
? ?
You should message me if
You are a genuine person who is looking to have good times, good
laughs, and create great memories with an awesome lady. I encourage
the co-dependent to move on. Although I'm ready to find a partner
in crime and soul mate, I seek a guy who has his own interests and
is a "whole and confident"" person outside the confines of a
relationship.
So take a risk, and if this profile caught you eye then send me a
message and lets see where it takes us.
To all others, happy cupid connecting ;) May 2009 bring us all
peace & love.
