My name is Alistair. I've answered lots of questions and given each one an explanation, so have a look at them if you want to understand more about me.

I like to debate, play PC games, go on walks, see films; fairly standard things. I'm absolutely confident in who I am and don't feel like I have to pretend to be something I'm not or hide anything about myself. I'm scrupulously honest, so if I say something even slightly downbeat, I'm not fishing for sympathy, I'm just being open ;p

If we're a high match, you should probably talk to me. I promise I won't attempt to do anything untoward like insulting you or attempting to harvest your organs. We'll just have a nice conversation, and you can learn more about the sort of guy I am.

Getting rejected for jobs, but continuing to excel at being a real swell guy. In some magical alternative universe, I'm a successful comedy writer. In this one, I occasionally write things and find it almost impossible to get anyone to read them.

Communicating, producing reasonably inventive puns, engaging in moderately witty repartee, being loyal and attentive, bordering on manic. Treating others with sensitivity and respect.

How much I talk. In uncomfortable situations (I'm awkward around strangers) I feel compelled to fill silence. Otherwise, my general goofiness and aura of being in the wrong place, perhaps. After that, probably my deadpan abilities.

Books: Pratchett's Discworld series, His Dark Materials trilogy, the Harry Potter series (so well written).

Movies: Wreck-It-Ralph (adored it), Memento, Anchorman, Burn After Reading, Fight Club, Margin Call, In Bruges, The Prestige, WALL-E.

Shows: Breaking Bad, The Wire, Batman: The Brave and the Bold (unfairly cancelled - it was outrageous), Arrested Development, Community, Red Dwarf, The IT Crowd, Sherlock (Elementary isn't as good, but it's surprisingly decent), The Thick of It (amazing), Father Ted, Entourage (strangely compelling), Terriers (it was mistreated, and it had a fantastic theme song!), The Simpsons (obviously), Flight of the Conchords, and Lost (I loved it despite its terrible ending and spiritual handwaving).

Music: Electronic, Indie, Rock, probably my standard genres (if those count as genres). Hot Chip and Andrew Bird are my favourite artists - after that, Air, Boards of Canada, Flight of the Conchords, LCD Soundsystem, The Gregory Brothers, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Coldplay (they catch a lot of flak for some reason, possibly their trite and awful lyrics, but musically they're fantastic).

Food: Sweet curries, pizza, pasta, burritos, garlic bread, chicken soup, fruit smoothies, meatballs ... my tastes are unsophisticated.

Conversation, opportunities for puns, envisioning ridiculous and occasionally surreal scenarios, the internet, an endless stream of media content, and the ability to understand and empathize with people.

Where I'm going to find someone who's genuinely interested in me. The match system on here hasn't been very successful thus far. I really believe I can make someone very happy, but no-one else seems to agree :p

In front of my computer, browsing the internet or playing video games with assorted internet individuals. Occasionally I'm out walking, trying desperately to avoid being noticed by the numerous inebriated individuals.

I don't really keep secrets, and I'm not really embarrassed about anything. That said, the most relevant thing is that I've never been on a date.

You can keep track of conversations. If you're on this site every day but take weeks to respond to messages, you may well be too inconsiderate for us to get along. I get that women get lots of messages, but try not to take them for granted. I only wish I attracted that kind of attention instead of having to fight to even be noticed ;p
