I am paisley, shiny, and blue.
My Self-Summary
I'm currently in an open, long-distance relationship.
I'm one of those well-socialized girl geeks. I like sundresses and
mixed drinks and dancing - but I love obscure board games, the
Discovery Channel, and a good argument about what will happen when
we reach the singularity. "Nerd!" is a compliment to me.
I am independent, affectionate, easygoing, honest, and a little
shy. My two favorite things are cuddling and having adventures.
What I’m doing with my life
I read minds for a living.
That is, I work in a neuroscience lab, and I love it. I also write,
program, and teach/tutor whenever I get the chance.
I live with my two roommates and our puppy. They are all three
adorable, although some of them have problems with chewing on
things they shouldn't.
I’m really good at
Learning things, understanding things. I love talking to people
about what they're enthusiastic about, whether that's astrophysics
or history or their childhood or Lord of the Rings. I guess that
also makes me good at having conversations?
I bake fabulous cakes. I am a terrible singer, but I'm great at
karaoke. I'm almost finished with my first novel.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Contact, the Silmarillion, The Time-Traveler's Wife, Y &
Sandman (graphic novels count, right?), The Name of the Rose, The
Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Middlesex, Immortality, John Dies
At the End
Music: Andrew Bird, Sufjan Stevens, Great Lake Swimmers, Iron and
Wine, Paul Simon/Simon & Garfunkel, John Lennon, fun., Beck,
Neutral Milk Hotel.
Movies: The Lion In Winter, Star Wars, Psycho Beach Party, Mr.
Smith Goes to Washington, Young Frankenstein, Everything Is
Illuminated, Little Miss Sunshine, Brick
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing any one of a number of things, including:
~ having a potluck dinner with my roommates
~ going to a silly hat party or a pajama party*
~ having a chill night watching a movie and eating ice cream, or
just talking
~ having a study party with my grad student roommates
* My friends and I love having themed parties. Our most recent idea
is a Hitchhiker's-themed party where everyone wears bathrobes and
drinks gargleblasters and we have a vogon poetry contest to see who
can come up with the worst possible poetry.
You should message me if
You can't stop talking about the things that interest you, but
you're also a good listener. You laugh frequently. You are
drama-free. You know how to be yourself.
