My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I have a dog named Strider. He's from Awesometown.

I just, I just want someone to get tipsy with and then dance across the house to The Joker, by Steve Miller Band.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working on my PhD in historical theology (which is perhaps easier for brevity's sake to articulate as church history; I specialize in medieval). Attempting to develop latent superpowers. Bathing, eating, drinking, sleeping - you know, THOSE kinds of things.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I make music, I write nonfiction and fiction, I love a good debate, and conversating with thoughtful people is my favorite always. I try to be good at these things.

I can make crazygood curry from scratch. I like to cook.

I'm also funny. Sometimes loud. I come with an entourage of sychophants. Alsoalso, I'm subtle.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I read mostly nonfiction about philosophy, history, and politics/ethics, per my professional interests. I'm also one of those geeks who points out differences between the Lord of the Rings books and movies (always in favor of the books), because Tolkien was a fracking genius. I'm trying to find time to get into Dostoevsky. I really enjoy Cormac McCarthy, though I usually just want to die after reading him, so maybe "enjoy" isn't the word I'm looking for; Blood Meridian is his best. My favorite book is Moby Dick, or The Whale.

Movies: Usually when asked my favorite movie, I say either The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly or Joe versus the Volcano. Are they really my favorite movies? Not really, though they are damn good movies. And since this is my answer and I love these two movies, does that not mean that in a sort of Freudian sense they really are my favorite movies? The answer is: no.

I really dig Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa, Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Scorsese, Michael Mann, Tarantino, the Coen brothers, Eastwood, Woody Allen, Robert Altman. I really want to get into Hitchcock at some point, but I've only seen a few. I used to put Shyamalan because Unbreakable was so freaking incredible, but he just really made it hard to stay a fan.

I also like a lot of shit movies like Conan the Destroyer, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or The Crow. I'm just very particular about the crap I watch.

Alsoalso, I'll watch any comic book movie anytime. And you know, the given: Star Wars.

TV: The Office (US and British, though I think the British superior), Firefly, and Buffy (any Whedon, really), Avatar, Arrested Development, Madmen, Flight of the Conchords, Batman: The Animated Series, Archer. Oh, and MST3K, duh (message me your favorite short, get a priceless prize; note: you may accuse your parents).

Music: I have playlists. But generally, Rilo Kiley, William Elliott Whitmore, mewithoutYou, Sufjan, Manchester Orchestra, Tori Amos, Old Crow Medicine Show, Mumford and Sons, Biggie Smalls, Smashing Pumpkins, Cash, Josh Ritter, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Elton John, Queen, Denison Witmer, Arcade Fire, the Avett brothers, Bright Eyes, Devo, Joanna Newsom, John Brown and the Cougars, Led Zeppelin, Oasis, Nirvana, Neutral Milk Hotel, Okkervil River, Chopin, James Howard Newton, Hans Zimmer, Steve Miller Band, Willy Mason. My favorite almost any given day is mewithoutYou. If you don't know who they are, look up The King Beetle on a Coconut Estate. You're welcome.

I also make my own music.

Food: Thai till I die, bitches!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books, good drink and good conversation, my iPhone, people who are wiser than me, the Ray Charles version of Ol' Man River, and Thai food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how big the universe is and how fast it is expanding, how strange it is to be anything at all, my research, going back in time, metaphysics, how much I could get done if I didn't need sleep, language, if what happened to Dr. Manhattan is really possible, what Strider thinks about, and superpowers I'd like to have.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging out at the pub with friends or studying. Sometimes racing to meet deadlines.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I was a kid, I cried cause I felt bad for the Trix Rabbit.

I've been working on my Hugo Weaving impression. Status: I don't want to talk about it.

Also, I'm in love with Lana Kane.

If you like to drink and argue about reality, life, and death.

You are not judgmental.

You felt really bad for the Trix Rabbit too.

You think being anything at all is really...odd.

If you play Yahtzee.

If you so desire.
