I am Over-educated, Opinionated, and Easily amused.

My Self-Summary

I like walks on the beach and getting caught in the rain .... seriously, though, I hate writing these things. I also dislike the beach except in winter and I don't particularly like getting wet. I'm an over-educated east-coast liberal with an art history degree, a library science degree, a decent sense of humor and a wish to find someone to talk to and hold onto. I'm into art, museums, quilting, reading, flea markets, bookstores, classic movies, and evenings at home. However, with the right person, I can be as adventurous as the next gal. I also hate the word "gal," but "honey" and "darlin'" are all right with me.

I'll admit it: I'm looking for love. I'm looking to share my life with someone and be part of his, not just be the woman he calls once in a while when he remembers he has a girlfriend.

I've been thinking about what else to say about myself. I dislike looking at pictures of guys because it doesn't tell you anything about them. I prefer a word-picture. However, I realize that looks are indeed important, so let me indulge my art historian side and tell you what I look like.

I am Rubenesque. No, seriously, I am not using it as a euphemism for fat, but in terms of what his women really look like. I am not so tall or statuesque as his beauties, I have slightly larger breasts, and my skin isn't so pink. I'm thinking specifically of the painting "The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus." I am also not blond.

Was that sufficiently pedantic while being a tad titillating? Or am I trying too hard to be unconventional? Write me and let me know.

What I’m doing with my life

Teaching SAT Prep at a public high school, but I'd rather be working in an academic library. I'm not terribly ambitious.

I have one dream, though: to go to Scotland someday during the annual arts festival in August to see the Edinburgh Tattoo.

Currently, I am a member of Six Guns and Shady Ladies, a wild west re-enactment group. We get to shoot people. A lot. And wear cool costumes. I love to sew,and I am in the process of creating an entire wardrobe. Check out my pictures!

I’m really good at

Jigsaw puzzles and public speaking. Worrying about things. Worrying about loved ones.

The first things people usually notice about me

How quiet I am. But that changes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Historical fiction - The Lymond Chronicles; Science Fiction, particularly Space Opera by female authors like Catherine Asaro and Lois McMaster Bujold.

Movies: The Miracle Worker, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Casablanca, My Favorite Year, Golddiggers of 1933, Footlight Parade.

TV: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Highlander, Kung Fu, Torchwood, Dr. Who.

Music: dance music, Steeleye Span, Green Day.

Food: chocolate, chips, pork chops, steak and mashed potatoes.

The six things I could never do without

Books, the internet, cats, TV, a comfortable bed, love.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

This month it's long distance relationships. There are so few single men in El Paso, and I'm not just saying that. While Austin is right up there in the top 10, El Paso never even makes the list. So now that I've exhausted all my local possibilities from OKC, it's time to start looking farther afield. There are so many great possibilities on this site, but so few people are willing to do that whole LDR thing, including me. Which is silly. I married the last guy I met that way. Took a while to actually meet, but patience is a virtue, so they say.

On a typical Friday night I am

Home watching TV. Or something even more pathetic. But I'm willing to go out. Dinner? Dancing? Movies? A cafe? A walk in the park? All sound better than my "typical" Friday nights.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Like I'm going to post it online! Please.

You should message me if

You want to.

However, DO NOT IM ME! I hate instant messaging!!! If I'm online I'm DOING something, ok?
