My self-summary
What I’m doing with my life
tl;dr: Ph.D. + work + blogging + traveling + trying new things.

I feel like I should update my profile but who has time for that? So, most of this is oldish now.

About a year ago I moved to Tokyo (from Melbourne) for my Ph.D (*). I study programming mainly, but also biology, economics, design thinking, linguistics, and Japanese. And everything else I can find. I have a job doing the same thing. I work from home and it's awesome. I used to be a game programmer and that was pretty good too, but I like not being in an office now.

I **love** writing and I write a blog about programming ( if you are the stalky kind). It got me invited to teach in Stockholm last year :> Stockholm is pretty.

I travel a lot. Sometimes too much.

My hobbies are photography, dancing, DJing (but I'm awful at it :O), alcoholic picnics, cafe hunting, and maybe I'll try to learn skateboarding soon. And fashion design. Maybe I should also take gaming up again. Kinda looking for new hobbies... anyone want to take dancing/baking classes together? (not at the same time, I don't think that kind of class exists).

Yeah, I have trouble focusing on one thing. I'm tasting as much of The Universe as I can. Om nom nom.

(*) My topic is about designing ways to make DNA analysis more cost and time efficient. When it is, biologists can provide better personalized medicine, but we will also better understand how to modify and improve our species. (‡)

(‡) Did you know there are DNA "printers" being developed? And genome designing software... I think when we understand things well enough, we will be able to modify our own DNA from the comfort of our couches on a daily basis. This isn't just nerdy stuff - imagine the cool cosmetic things we will be able to do. I think it will take fashion into new dimensions.

The six things I could never do without
- Books strewn across my bedroom,
- Pretty words like "tenuous" and "tranquility",
- A pen and paper,
- A plant (Apparently plants increase your creativity by 15%. And my plant is cute),
- My computer (I hate computers to be honest, but I need them),
- Algebra. Algebra is Algebraic, yo.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If my future ghost is time traveling to do all the things I've been asking it to do.
On a typical Friday night I am

I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–100
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, short-term dating
You should message me if
If any of this sounds like you:

- you like shoes (or fashion in general),
- you do your smiley faces the other way (:
- you are well spoken,
- you like learning (and are interested in a variety of things),
- you appreciate good music,
- you are unusually honest,
- you think there's a good chance you might go to hell, if it exists.

Or you know, if you just want to...

If you are in a hurry, just copy paste this as a message, and fill in the blanks (doesn't have to make sense): "Alex! I like that you wrote [one thing I wrote], but [another thing I wrote] makes you sound [negative adjective]. But we could probs get along anyway because I'm [thing about you that is cool]. Let's [thing to do together] sometime!"

Not looking for anything in particular... I'm happy to: talk on here, get coffee, explore the streets, go to a park or museum or fashion show, go shopping, get lunch or dinner, go to a concert or party. No séances sorry.
