My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Analytical, playful, curious, understated, talkative, laid back, derpy, brainy, dynamic, opinionated, eccentric, honest, secretly sweet, Kinsey 5 human* being.

Writing, playing, and recording music are major pastimes of mine. Enjoyment-wise, nothing beats it. Every once in a while I crank out a poem or a short story. I have several ideas for visual expression, but I am not endowed with related talents. :3 Except possibly in the case of clothes. Putting outfits together is a hobby of mine, I guess. I also consider witty and logical conversation to be an art, and I enjoy exercising that through friendly debates.

Beyond creative stuff, I'm into beer & wine, nature, reading, films, video games, live music, driving down country roads with the windows down and the music blaring, other cliche ~*infinite~* shit like the aforementioned, coffee, meeting new people, spending time with friends and family, and learning for learning's sake. Academics and volunteering have a dominant presence in my life, but loved ones will always be foremost to me. Psychology, sociology, feminism, neuroscience, philosophy, biology, and current events will always get me talking. Nearly everything will get me listening.

*You know how captchas often carry the instruction "Prove you're human!" or some variation? Well, here it is: a real picture of me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I want to be a doctor, a researcher, and a writer. I want to travel and learn as much as I can before getting into a mysterious hang-gliding accident when I turn 84. As an existentialist I've gotta pack a lot of action into this ephemeral mortal being.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- inquisitive eyebrow raises
- thoughtful counselor frowns
- accents/impressions (on a "don't quit your day job," kind of level, y'know?)
- ironic Top 40 song references
- otherwise stealthily injecting lyrics into discussion
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
- "This is Monopoly money..."
- "You can't park there!"

Music: Experimental music with a pop basis, among many, many other things. The most relevant question you could ask me re: music is "what albums have you been listening to recently?" There's almost always one particular artist whose stuff I'm currently combing through, but of course I have my stable favorites.

I also make music, which you can check out if you ask me for the link.
It has been described as possessing a sort of "brash beauty," which means it royally sucks in any aesthetic or technical sense but I am a badass songwriter and composer.

- Absurdist or odd character studies (Lars and the Real Girl, The Elephant Man, Amélie, Me and You and Everyone We Know, I'm a Cyborg But That's OK, The Royal Tenenbaums, American Splendor, The Darjeeling Limited, Gummo)

- Movies about music and/or art (The Devil & Daniel Johnston, Almost Famous, Walk the Line, The Runaways, Kurt Cobain: About A Son, Banksy's Exit Through The Gift Shop)
- Delightfully crass, if cinematically unrefined, movies (The Doom Generation, The Living End, Clerks, School of the Holy Beast)
- Movies that make you never want to be alone again (Enter the Void, Oldboy, The Butterfly Effect, Requiem for a Dream, The Tracey Fragments)
- AU thought experiments (The Adjustment Bureau, Midnight In Paris)
- Oftentimes sappy movies about friendship and adventure (Dazed and Confused, Big Fish, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Goonies, The Little Rascals, Stand By Me, Up!, The Red Balloon, The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump)
- Really fucking sad movies that are partially about friendship in the face of adversity (The Color Purple, Fried Green Tomatoes, Mary and Max, Into the Wild, Edward Scissorhands, Wall-E, The Hours)
- Clever, stylized action movies or crime dramas, unabashed fighting movies, and pure dramas (Dog Day Afternoon, Taxi Driver, Fargo, No Country for Old Men, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill 1&2, Reservoir Dogs, Volver, the Mortal Kombat movies, the Rocky movies, Karate Kid, The Godfather, Foxy Brown, Brick, Memento, Sin City, A Dangerous Method, Spirited Away, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, The Immigrant)

- Classic movies (Gone With The Wind, Lillith, It's a Wonderful Life, The Seven Year Itch, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Great Gatsby)

TL;DR: The "cerebral" category of Netflix and the odd comedy.

Food: The only flavor I can't stand is licorice. The only texture I can't stand is that of eggplant. I have a special soft spot for spicy and hearty food.

TV: House/Gray's Anatomy/unrealistic medical dramas, documentary-style medical shows, Daria, US of Tara, Orange is the New Black, New Girl, ANTM and RPDR, old people trivia shows like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, cheesily gory stuff like 1000 Ways to Die and Spartacus: Blood & Sand, and the occasional anime.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
- a water desalination device
- a grill lighter
- gasoline
- a knife
- lots of rope
- a tarp (shelter, a place to sleep whilst suspended from a tree, a sail for the boat I'm going to build)

oh this isn't the desert island question is it
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
music/writing songs in my noggin. people in my life. psychological theory and/or biological phenomena. hypothetical scenarios. research design. screenplay ideas. silly, trivial things. self-important, "significant" things. feminist issues. "X assignment is due tomorrow. Fml fml fml." human nature. mortality. how I can't get that trumpet out of my head.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
drinking IPAs somewhere.
