On my twelfth birthday Lifter Puller (college rock) released their first album, the very night Il Duce from The Mentors (punk rock) was hit by a freight train and killed. Il Duce had said in interviews that Courtney Love offered to pay him to kill Kurt Cobain.
On my fifth birthday, Nirvana played at a goth club named Man Ray, the same club a friend of mine would regularly sneak into the year he was fourteen, a club that is now condos. Five years later to the day, on my tenth birthday, my friend lost her virginity (she was fifteen then, but we didn't meet until I was myself fifteen).
The day after I was born they started filming Death Wish 3 down the street from where I live now--supposedly its name uses a number rather than Roman numerals because according to survey done at the time, over half of U.S. citizens could not read Roman numerals.
I'm not necessarily a fan of this stuff, but I do like The Mentors a little and I think Charles Bronson is great.
