Hmmm, I think it's a bit difficult to summarize yourself, but here are the basics: I am a 25 year old History PhD student. I completely love what I do, but since I spend a lot of time researching and writing, I really value my free time and having fun. My friends are super important to me, and my favorite place to be is with them, laughing. Traveling and immersing myself in new situations are what I live for, and I've spent a lot of time living outside of the U.S. in the past few years.

I LOVE to read. I like to stay informed about what's going on in the world, but literature is my first love. There are so many authors and books I enjoy, but Margaret Atwood, Ayn Rand, Hunter S. Thompson, Toni Morrison, David Sedaris, Orlando Figes, and biographies take up a lot of space on my bookshelves. I am constantly re-reading something by Hemingway. However, my hands-down favorites are Zadie Smith's "White Teeth" and "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez...I forcefully make everyone I know read them.

As for movies, I like movies that make me laugh or think. The same goes for TV, my favs are 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Flight of the Conchords, The Office, Dexter, and Rome.

Music is another major aspect of my life. Although there is some new stuff I like, I usually stick to music aged 30 years or older. I always have something playing, and it will most likely be Debussy, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Cat Power, Billie Holiday, Paul Simon, Mark Mothersbaugh, Van Morrison, or Carla Bruni.

I'm a foodie. I am confident that I can find something I'll eat (and like) no matter where I am in the world. I love to try new food and am open to anything. Sushi, Thai, Ethiopian, Indian...
