My self-summary
I’m looking for as many moments of ecstasy as I can possibly find. I have my eyes open for that perfect photographic moment when the light is just right; that you can only catch if you’re quiet and calm and slow down and really look at the world. I would love to dance in your arms, or boogey with you on the dance floor. Music is magic to me. It can be just about anything: classical, jazz, rock, or reggae. I took piano lessons from second grade until I started grad school. Now I sing in a community chorus. It always makes me feel good.

I’m an enthusiastic traveler, and would like to have a fellow adventurer. We live in an area that offers rich and diverse artistic and cultural opportunities. I can and do visit museums and the symphony and go to lectures by myself, but it’s much more fun to go with someone so you can share your thoughts and reactions afterwards. Could we go to the movies and then sit over drinks or dinner and talk about it all? Could we go to the gym together; or biking or hiking or kayaking? (Not that I know how to do that last, but I want to try it.)

I want to be in an intimate, living-together relationship with someone who can be my best friend, with an ample allowance for personal “me” time in the mix. Those things don’t happen instantaneously, but it’d be great to meet in person to see if there’s any chemistry. If there is, we could start exploring the possibilities.
What I’m doing with my life
Getting my priorities straight. It used to be mostly about work. Now I'm looking for creativity, joy, love, and compassion.
I’m really good at
Putting myself in someone else's shoes. Seeing beauty in nature. Throwing great dinner parties.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm friendly and like talking to people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: I see a lot of movies, so my favorite changes from month to month, but the one that always gets me is Cinema Paradiso.
Books: The Tipping Point, Primal Leadership, Blink, just about any mountaineering book, memoirs, and character-driven fiction. Latest reads are The Emperor of All Maladies, behind the beautiful forevers, The Paris Wife, Unbroken, and The Art of Racing in the Rain. I LOVE reading.
Music: Very eclectic tastes. I grew up with classical and still love it, and the old 40's and 50's songs are great fun. I like jazz, rock, and reggae. And anything you can dance to: latin, ballroom, swing.
Food: Oh yes!. Yes! Yes! I’m a pretty good cook, and I’d love to be your partner in the kitchen. I'm always interested in what wines would pair well with a dish, and I like the creative aspect of putting together a menu with different colors, textures, and tastes that all complement each other.
The six things I could never do without
Being in Nature
Being with the people I love
REALLY good food
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Food. I just tried a recipe for apricot/Bing cherry pie. One of my favorite dishes is roasted poblano chilies stuffed with quinoa, goat cheese, and cilantro.

What it would be like to live in another country for a year, and if I'll ever do the work to be able to speak fluent French (or German).
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably out with friends; either for drinks and dinner, or a movie. Yeah!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a very private person (except with close friends I know I can trust).
You should message me if
you'd like to meet and see if there's any in-person "spark."
