My self-summary
Reluctant but committed workaholic and idealistic, goofball intellectual seeks animated, intelligent soul to draw him gently back into the dating pool.
What I’m doing with my life
I work for an Internet company whose staff is mostly social justice activists, and which is exploding in terms of its reach and impact. In other words, after years of kicking around in jobs which mostly loved me a lot more than I loved them, I've found something about as ideal as you can get. Naturally, it eats up a lot of my time.
I’m really good at
Dancing, arguing, ruminating, psychoanalysis, dry wit, awful puns, cleaning things, fixing things, explaining to people why they're wrong, patching things up with people I've offended, satire and sarcasm, driving, talking, and walking too fast, being loud, being quiet, getting things done.
The first things people usually notice about me
People tell me I have this energy. It's a little tough to describe. People will sometimes just start to get really amused at life, or their eyes will go a little wide. I'll have to think about this one.

To be truth, I am pitifully read and ... music'd .. compared to a lot of the people I see on this site and admire greatly. If you can turn me onto new works of art and the mind, I will forever think of you fondly.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Once upon a time, it was big stuff like the ultimate fate of the universe, the machine apocalypse, the mind/body problem, radical skepticism, the possibility of God, and basically anything else heavy and philosophical. Then for awhile it was more introspective - why I feel the way I do, what patterns can be deduced from that, and what to do about them. Now it's mostly work, politics, and my friends.
On a typical Friday night I am
This is Friday night and right now I'm reading the Wikipedia article on the ancient Chinese classic, Discourses on Salt and Iron, which records a debate between two factions in the imperial administration, one favoring a return to Confucian, laissez-faire economic policies, while the other supported the former Emperor Wu's high taxes and nationalization of the salt and iron industries, which mainly had the aim of financing an expansionist military policy along the northern and western frontiers. This is exactly the sort of knowledge on early Chinese economic administration I've been wondering about for years, so I'm kind of excited to have stumbled across it.

Also, a friend is gonna call me in a bit and we're gonna go out and get some beers. I'm not that crazy.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm pretty sure I have psychic powers. I can't use them to predict lotto numbers, tho, sorry. I also have a misdemeanor record in Nevada.
