My self-summary
I'm mopey.
What I’m doing with my life
I go to Brooklyn College for my English M.A., so that's fairly time consuming. I will be teaching college freshman for the upcoming fall semester, so that's pretty exciting! I am currently taking a French translation course that takes up most of my time. I am terrible at long term planning, so for the present I am going to stay in school and push back adulthood as much as possible. Ideally, I'd like to study literature indefinitely.

I also play in a folk band, among a few other projects, most of which are occupied by the same people/ person. I appreciate the relationship I have with music at the moment.
I’m really good at
Nothing at the moment, but if my five-year plan works out I should be a pretty competent juggler.
The first things people usually notice about me
My very long and wild hair. At some point it will be donated, but for the meantime it is a crazy mess. Also, I look pretty young for my age.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Beckett, Bataille, and Genet. Most of what I read nowadays is French literature. I read a decent amount of philosophy as well. Also lots of school stuff

Movies: Bergman, Kobayashi, Kurosawa, Tarkovsky and pretty much all of the Star Trek universes (except Enterprise), which is the most nerdy thing about me. Although I've also seen more Joss Whedon tv than I would care to admit. As in, damn near all of it. Since I am trying to understand French, I try to watch a French movie every chance I get.

Music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T71gb8eQRKg&feature=channel&list=UL

also some old emo stuff, jazz (ala Coleman, Dolphy, Taylor), Arvo Part, Max Richter, A Silver Mt. Zion, Bonnie Prince Billy, Swans, early Bob Dylan/Leonard Cohen etc. Don't try to make sense of what I listen to, I don't understand it myself. Now that Spring has started I've been upping the 90's emo to an almost intolerable high.
The six things I could never do without
Whiskey, books, solitude, good flicks, music that makes things a little better, and banana sandwiches. Especially banana sandwiches.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What movie to watch next.
What whiskey to buy next.
What the heck I want to do with myself, both in the immediate and in the relatively distant future.
What random purchase I want to grab from Amazon that I will instantly forget until the day it arrives. Not only books but strange stuff like organic ginger ale and tapioca flour.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
About two years ago I was mugged by a group of 13 year old kids in broad daylight on a busy street. They had no weapons or anything, yet I gave up my stuff immediately.

You don't mind talking about literary things/ movies/ geeky stuff. Distrust in government and passion in anything is a huge plus.
