I am sincere, quiet, and silly when drunk.
My Self-Summary
I recently quit my job as a journalist and am starting law school
in the fall. It's a major change for me after focusing on
journalism pretty much my whole life. Otherwise, I like riding my
bike, seeing movies, going to concerts, hanging out with friends,
trying new restaurants and relaxing on my porch with a glass (ok,
bottle) of wine.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to make a difference, I guess, to find something I'm
passionate about and where I can have an impact. Oh, and I'm trying
to teach myself to cook. I'm trying one new recipe a week, and so
far it's been great, and a lot of fun.
I’m really good at
Procrastinating, parallel parking, making coffee, e-mail (really!),
catching the barman's attention, dancing like an idiot
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall, like really tall. I don't think about it much myself, but
I think people take notice. I'm also incredibly polite. My female
friends are always impressed how I will open and hold doors for
them, and other stuff that their boyfriends never do. My mother
taught me well.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I mostly read modern literary fiction -- Ian McEwan, Michael
Chabon, Tobias Wolff, Alan Hollinghurst, Adam Haslett, Miranda
July, Perrotta, Eggers, Ford, etc. The last book that made me cry
was "Call Me By Your Name" by Andre Aciman. If you've read it, you
MUST e-mail me. Oh, and music -- the usual indie rock stuff like
Wilco, Phoenix, the Hold Steady, Saturday Looks Good to Me, Belle
and Sebastian, the Gaslight Anthem, Okkervil River, the Shins, the
National, Spoon.
I like a wide range of movies and food as well and am willing to
try any new restaurant or food.
The six things I could never do without
My stereo and iPod
The New York Times
My bicycle
Jeans
Gmail
Sunshine
I spend a lot of time thinking about
At the moment, my life is pretty uncertain, so I'm thinking about
where I'll be this fall -- if I'll be in school or working, and
where that will be.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably at a restaurant or bar with friends, maybe a movie. If
not, then attempting to make dinner and watching a DVD.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I love to dance and sing but am really, really terrible at both.
When I played a friend's rock star video game, where you sing, the
game cut me off mid-song because I was so far off-key. Sad.
You should message me if
Any of this grabs you, or enjoy going out and meeting new people,
trying new restaurants, going for a bike ride or a walk, or or just
getting a drink.
