The story behind my screenname

Aug 19, 2008

I believe that there will be many typos, misspellings, grammar and punctuation errors, and other nonsense. You were warned. Almost Lindsey is a nickname I have had since I was in eleventh grade. I got it from a very good friend of mine (he wasn't a good friend at the time... I had just met him when he gave me the nickname). My friend... let's just call him Aaron, and his family (2 sisters, 1 brother) and his good friend all transfered schools in the middle of the year because they had some problems at their old school. Apparently Aaron's mom thought it would be safer for them to go to school in Oak Park, rather than South Sac. As a side note, anyone not from the greater Sacramento area... Oak Park is about one of the worst areas we have. I didn't know it when I went to high school, because I was completely oblivious of just about everything. I have since been told that there are COPS that are afraid to go into Oak Park. Ghetto. Anyways, back to the story. So this pack of 5 kids were new to a school. They were looking around and, as a game, trying to find people who looked like, or otherwise reminded them of people at their old school. One of the people that sat with me at lunch had befriended one (or more) of this pack... and offered them a spot to hang out at lunch that day... with us. I, being the social butterfly that I am, started talking with them immedaitely. They told me I was JUST like their friend Lindsey. I was exactly like her. When I declared that [my favorite band at the time] was better than Metallica... they were playfully outraged! they said "Lindsey would NEVER say that!" and so I became ALMOST lindsey.

That's as good a nickname story as I've ever heard. I am really glad you shared it because I have been very, very confused this entire time.
