My self-summary
Well hello there! I'm an Academic Advisor and I'm looking for someone to have fun with! I enjoy reading books in my free time and I like almost every kind of movie except horror, (unless I have someone to hold my hand!) I love to bake and often make treats for my friends and coworkers! I love Columbia and I would really enjoy having someone to explore more of it with!
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated with my Masters in Counseling Psychology in 2010 and went straight into Academic Advising. It's really nice to be that one approachable person at a big university that a student can feel comfortable with. I'm also teaching a few classes in the psychology department (only one so far, but a few more in the works). I still might like to become a counselor in a community agency at some point in my life, but for now, I'm really enjoying advising. Right now, most of my life is comprised of trying to figure out this whole "adulthood" thing and how I suddenly became one of those "adults".

I'm also making big changes in my health and I'm getting more active. I do Zumba and I've recently lost a significant amount of weight (and have a little bit left to go) and became a vegetarian. Change is good.
I’m really good at
Conversation and Baking! My friends tell me I make the best cupcakes in the world!
The first things people usually notice about me
My jokes and my laugh. I love to laugh and make other people laugh. My hilariousness is a pretty well established fact.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I adored the Harry Potter books, The Hunger Games, The Night Circus, the Matched Trilogy, the Maze Runner Trilogy and The Mortal Instruments series but I really love any book, especially ones with fantasy and adventure. Adoration of Jenna Fox and The Compound, were really good. I'm in the middle of the Divergent series and I'm about to start The Fault in Our Stars.

TV: I'm completely in love with True Blood and Arrested Development and have recently become addicted to Dexter (though I'm not caught up! No spoilers please!) and Sherlock. If I'm watching TV then I'm usually on the History Channel, 30 Rock, The Whitest Kids U' Know, South Park or most frequently a cooking show. I just finished watching Girls and Six Feet Under (I know, I'm late to the party) I will pretty much love anything on HBO.

Movies: My favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption, but Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Super Bad and The Hangover are all tied for second place. I'm also a fan of Juno, Garden State, Fight Club, Zoolander, American Beauty, Across The Universe, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Pan's Labyrinth, Saved!, Harold and Maude, Another Earth, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Cloud Atlas, Kill Bill Vol I & II, RENT, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy, and Sweeney Todd. I love going to Ragtag and seeing whatever the newest film is there.

Music: Musically, I grew up listening to musicals, so I'm a little stunted when it comes to my taste in music (but willing to be educated!). My Pandora list includes a lot of Paramore, Phoenix, Massive Attack, OK Go, Death Cab, The Black Keys and Jay Brannon.

Food: I love food, but I'm not too adventurous in cooking it, but I do venture out for more exciting cuisine now and again when others are interested!
The six things I could never do without
Here goes: as nerdy as it seems, my book collection would have to be #1. Number #2 would probably by my car, I love having my independence. Number #3 would be cell phone because I'm just as addicted to technology as everyone else. Number #4 would have to be my collection of earrings (what can I say? I like jewelry!). Number #5 and number #6 would be my group of friends and my family. Staying connected to them means the world to me.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to make for dinner? What my next read will be? Why do fools fall in love? :) I'm not sure. I'm very fascinated by the mind and people's behavior, so I'm usually trying to figure out what makes people tick.
On a typical Friday night I am
Mostly you'll find me relaxing (sometimes with a glass of wine) after a busy week at work, reading a new book or absorbing the entirety of Netflix. You're also pretty likely to find me at Ragtag seeing the latest film, but I'm just as happy to be on the couch chillin' with a good friend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm still in love with the Harry Potter series and own two copies of each of the books. And I'm totally not ashamed. I went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter last November and it completely changed my life.

I was at least 21 before I could actually see the "D" in Disney. I grew up thinking the "D" was a backwards G and spent hours trying to see it right to no avail. The day I finally saw it, it blew my mind.

I still listen to the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC in my car sometimes. You know you like it, too. Don't try and deny.
