My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
You know, I think I'm gonna go list-style on this one:

- I think it's cheating to say you've lived somewhere unless you've rented a place there for more than a few months.
- I've lived in the Bay for the last 7 years, and before that New Zealand, Easter Island (yeah, that was a weird time), Tokyo, New Mexico (split between Santa Fe and Albuquerque), and Boston.
- East Bay is to San Francisco as Brooklyn is to New York (thank you, SAT format).
- Somehow I just don't really love desert.
- Holding the door for someone will never go out of style.
- iTunes has made the production of mixes much more enjoyable than the days of tapes and cds.
- Fancy mixology drinks are great, but two is the limit before I'm moving back to beer.
-Fall is a great time of year: football is back, baseball is in the playoffs, and the opera season has just started.
- Nope, not kidding about being excited for the start of opera season (I also love the ballet, but their season doesn't start until January).
- My job (archaeology) has me outdoors a lot of the time, so I'll often politely decline hiking invitations in my free time.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm in a PhD program studying the archaeology of Hawaii, which is fun and means I get to spend a fair amount of time on Maui. It's a pretty great field, and I'm always happy to talk shop, even if it's things people have heard about aliens or treasure hunting (though that is definitely not what we do).

Other than that, recently got back from China where I was hosting a travel show for PBS. Which is weird.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Finding dive bars, picking horses at the track based on their names, opening the door for you.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm smiling. And that I'm pretty damn blonde.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Confederacy of Dunces, Atlas Shrugged, The Illiad

Movies: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (no, not the Johny Depp version)

Music: I've been on a super spotify kick lately, hoping to find new and awesome stuff. Gotta say, so far quantity has definitely trumped quality. I do love a lot of the vaguely indie stuff from the last few years (Fight Like Apes, Lykke Li, LCD, Spoon, Arcade Fire, The XX, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, etc.), but also have a good amount of early 90s hip hop alongside some classical stuff on my playlists. Also, I have a soft spot for country music, and I won't apologize!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My field project, the Red Sox, what to name a basset hound when I'm finally settled enough to take care of one (I'm leaning towards Audrey.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Having drinks, hopefully not getting suckered into karaoke. Again.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm the exception to the rule "it's like riding a bike". Rode around as a kid and now friends put me on a bicycle when they want a laugh.
Also, on the recent tv show in China I didn't tell this to the producers before they put me on a bike. It went... amusingly.

You're up for witty banter and adventuring in the area. Especially if you want in on a couple of New Year's resolutions, which are to visit all of the major museums in the Bay (new Exploratorium apparently opening soon) and order interesting liquors I/we've never heard of.

Also, "Beast of Burden" is at least in your top 3 favorite Rolling Stones songs.
