I am independent, empathetic, and inquisitive.

My Self-Summary

I am living in Santa Fe surrounded with a great community. I am constantly struck with how lucky I am to have such amazing friends and family to laugh with. I love to have real conversations that are both smart and funny and I am not afraid of respectful debates. My sense of humor is observational, ironic and sometime a little dark.

A more general list of my interests includes costuming, documentary arts (photography and audio editing), traveling, working with most art mediums, informing my self about the world around me, environmental science, politics, cool little kids, and an overall interest in human beings... their histories, interests and the ways they interact; in other words, I like people watching.

In an effort to summarize my self further here is the top five things that have formed how I am today [1] growing up in an incredibly creative environment and therefore feeling as if it is necessary that I be a creative person. [2] Being extremely Dyslexic, which explains the bad spelling and grammar (Please excuse it). If you are wondering if that means I see everything backwards and mixed up, the answer is NO. I have a different kind of dyslexia which is hard to explain but means I read very slowly and have a hard time comprehending when I am reading. I have a hard time spelling and punctuating because I don't easily reread what I write.[3] my dad dying when I was little.[4] growing up with an unnaturally strong community around me, which helped with my dad's death, but means I expect communities to be as amazing now as they were when I was growing up. [5] living my life between New Mexico and New England.

What I’m doing with my life

Every time I answer a question like this my life path changes cores and my answer becomes out dated, so here it goes. I was working in the film industry in the wardrobe department. But I realized that I have more interests and wont to pursue more in my life. So I am starting the grad school process. Which means it is hard to work in the film industry. So I am back to working as a nanny, doing little jobs for artists around town and working at a lingerie store. I still enjoy working on movies but I am enjoying learning more.

I’m really good at

Sewing, coming up with and making costumes for theme parties, throwing dinner parties, people watching, walking in high heals, spacial relations, and throwing fun Birthday parties for my friends. The most extravagant party included a moon walk.

The first things people usually notice about me

I do not know, I'm not them.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Assassination Vacation and The Partly Cloudy Patriot by Sarah Vowell, I love all of her books and all of David Sedaris books, Fraud by David Rakoff, Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder, Gaviotas a Village to Reinvent the World by Alan Weisman, and Hope Human and Wild by Bill McKibben, Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan, The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and all of the Oz books (the books that followed the Wizard of Oz).

Movies: Benny and Joon, Charade, Fight Club, Footloose, Inside Man, The Italian Job, Kill Bill, Little Miss Sunshine, Lars and the Real Girl, Monsoon Wedding, Monsters, Inc., Murderball, Ocean's Eleven, The Price of Milk, Pride and Prejudice the six-tape version, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Red Dawn, Roman Holiday, Rory O'Shea Was Here, The Royal Tenenbaums, Saved!, Secretary, Shortbus, Serenity, Spellbound, Wallace & Gromit: Three Amazing Adventures, Jump!,

Podcasts: This American Life, WNYC's Radio Lab, Slate's podcast including the political gabfest, Real Time with Bill Maher, Savage Love and Sex is fun.

Music: This is a hard question for me, since I can not describe why I like some types of music and not others. I love a lot of experimental music, but when the experimental music loses any thread of beat or melody I lose interest. I love good dance music even if it has lyrics that make me cringe. I am currently in a R&B/Soul faze particularly Stevie Wonder. When it comes right down to it, I enjoy listening to most music, but especially when it mixes and matches genres. here is a list of some of the artist I like:
D Numbers, ray charles ives, Those Darlins, Beirut, Ghastly City Sleep, Rio En Medio, Cat Power, Coco Rosie, Devandra Banhart, Animal Collective, Beck, Talking Heads, The Specials, David Bowie, B. Fleischmann, Department Of Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Kanye West and Marcelo D2,

Food: I like all kinds of good food especially fresh fruits (mmmm Berries) and vegetables, Indian food, sushi, salads, home cooked food and green Chile.

The six things I could never do without

friends/family, nature, good food in particular fruits and veggies, freedom, my computer, and sleep.

On a typical Friday night I am

out with friends or working, mostly working.
