My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well, if you couldn't guess from my profile name...I'm Amanda.

As of this past Monday I made my move back to St. Thomas official. Currently, I'm in the process of looking for employment, but think that based on the field I'm pursuing it shouldn't be too much of an issue. For now, I'm just looking forward to a little beach time and getting used to being back on this wonderful island!

I'm shy to the point of being considered painfully quiet...at least until I get to know the people around me. I suppose that's a relatively normal answer if someone is moderately shy... When I'm not being purposefully quiet; I'm reading, listening to music, arguing with someone (don't ask...), etc.

I love to travel, attend concerts/listen to music, watch movies, read, spend time with family/friends, play sports (don't have too much time for that anymore though), and catch up on sleep when I can.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Well, I finished my AAS in Hospitality Administration in late December... After that, I moved back to the Caribbean and am currently looking for a job in the hotel industry.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
The "old" three Rs', pool, memorizing useless trivia...as well as some useful trivia, sarcasm, and listening/giving sound advice. Being an awesome aunt is also a highlight of my life. I have two nieces and three nephews that I absolutely adore.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm short compared to people in my family. My mom's side of the family has an average height of 6'3".

Relatively easy-going, but most people don't realize that until they truly get to know me..

Besides those two illustrious exemplars, let's see: I smoke cigarettes, look at my phone constantly, read books incessantly, and love to wear comfortable clothing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I read a lot...some people might say too much. Love older literature/authors most of all. Chaucer, Aligheri, Homer, etc. However, I'll read just about anything...as long as it isn't strictly religious. Favorite books are: Divine Comedy, The Illiad, Jane Eyre, Canterbury Tales, Les Miserables, and A Tale of Two Cities.

I own a lot of movies, it's not quite to the point of not being able to keep track of them.. My favorite genres' are horror and suspense, but I'll watch just about anything. Here's a list, don't judge though, they're my choices after all. James Bond (Connery, Brosnan and Craig), Dazed and Confused, Empire Records, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Silence of the Lambs, Red Dragon, Princess Bride, A Clockwork Orange, The Abyss, Mean Girls, About Time, The Notebook, Crazy Stupid Love, 40 Year Old Virgin, Clue, A Fish Called Wanda, Halloween, The Purge, The Strangers, Batman (Bale and Keaton), This Means War, American Psycho, Friends With Benefits, etc.

I'm not gonna lie...I watch a lot of TV shows. Murder in the First, Rizzoli & Isles, Bones, NCIS and NCIS:LA (wonder how NCIS:NOLA will turn out), The Strain, The Originals, Arrow, Jeopardy! (if I have time), Covert Affairs, Criminal Minds, etc.

My music tastes are considered eclectic, but I really don't agree with those assumptions. My iTunes has a vast array of musicians, but they're primarily focused on rock or alternative artists. Here's a list of my most played artists: The Airborne Toxic Event, Theory of a Deadman, Puddle of Mudd, No Doubt, AFI, Bush, The Exies, The Salads, Kidneythieves, Paramore, Stereophonics, Middle Class Rut, Queens of the Stone Age, Finger Eleven, K's Choice, Aerosmith, MGMT, Breaking Benjamin, Coldplay, Dashboard Confessional, Seether, Veruca Salt, Nickelback (I know, I know), Alkaline Trio, Atreyu, Friendly Fires, Green Day, Injected, Story of the Year, Counting Crows, Good Charlotte, Saosin, 3OH!3, Beat Union, Cobra Starship, Cold, Linkin Park, The Offspring, 30 Seconds to Mars, Social Distortion, Weezer, 311, Blur, Dave Matthews Band, The Donnas, Garbage, Jack's Mannequin, Kings of Leon, Nine Inch Nails, Pressure 4-5, Sevendust...and so much more!

It's far easier for me to say what I don't like food-wise. Pizza (unless it's buffalo chicken, I can't stand normal pizza/marinara sauces), bacon, meats that come in tubular form (hot dogs, sausage, bologna, salami, etc.), onions, leeks, artichokes, etc.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Aside from basic necessities (which includes family and friends)...

Something to read
Music
Photos
Crosswords
Pen
Opportunity
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Improving my foreign language proficiency and quitting smoking.

Naively speaking, I sometimes wonder what the future holds. This doesn't necessarily pertain to just myself, but humanity as a whole.

My family granted, with Skype and Facetime, chatting with them "in person" is much easier now.

Getting back into sports, or at the very least swimming. I'd love to play soccer again, but I fear it's been far too long and I'd probably end up doing more harm than good.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Not too sure what my Friday nights will entail for me now. I'd love to say that I'd enjoy going out clubbing, but that's never been my style. Maybe just hit up a chill bar, hopefully with a few pool tables, and just have some fun. I try not to drink too much anymore...every so often, sure, but not everyday. I've been there and done that several times.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Well, ultimately that would defeat the purpose of appearing mysterious...but I'll bite.

I'm afraid that I'll never succeed...

I guess that's a fear that I've held onto for far too many years, but hopefully my recent improvements will help to alleviate some of the stress.

You share similar interests.
You know an inordinate amount of movie quotes.
You're gainfully employed... I'm not a gold-digger, I'm just not into dating people that barely work.
You DON'T do drugs! I don't really care what people do generally speaking, but I've never been a part of this culture and never plan on changing my stance.
