I guess I should start by saying I'm not your typical DC resident.
I don't like running (which seems to be a requirement for living
here, seriously who is not currently training for a marathon?); I
rarely ride a bike; and I'm not that interested international
affairs, politics, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm always an informed
voter, and I sign all the important petitions, but it's not part of
my everyday life or career.
I moved to DC a couple years ago for grad school and stayed because I found a great job and my sister is here. I'm still here because I found a second great job. I'm originally from Ohio, but went to school in southern California and pieces of my heart are still there. But, I do appreciate having a real spring and fall, and I love being able to go out without worrying about where I'm going to park or how much it will cost.
I theoretically enjoy all of those outdoor things DC has to offer like kayaking on the Potomac, hiking in Rock Creek Park, and throwing a frisbee on the mall, but I've been bad so far about making time actually do them.
I enjoy going out for an expensive dinner of sushi or steak as much as I like an evening in with pizza and beer on the couch, just as long as it's good beer. I am a big college football fan. I love knowledge and will never stop seeking it or spreading it. I'm not happy unless my life is super busy, but I also love doing nothing.
I'm just looking for someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation and shoot back a witty remark, preferably with either a random trivia or pop culture reference included. Education and knowledge (of all kinds) are very important to me and should be to you too.
I'm pretty liberal, so if you are afraid that ensuring others have basic necessities will somehow rob you of your obscene wealth, we probably aren't meant to be. I'm more spiritual than religious.
