My self-summary
This profile is a work in progress, kind of like me.

"We shed as we pick up, like travellers who must carry everything in their arms, and what we let fall will be picked up by those behind. The procession is very long and life is very short. We die on the march. But there is nothing outside the march so nothing can be lost to it. The missing plays of Sophocles will turn up piece by piece, or be written again in another language. Ancient cures for diseases will reveal themselves once more. Mathematical discoveries glimpsed and lost to view will have their time again. You do not suppose, my lady, that if all of Archimedes had been hiding in the great library of Alexandria, we would be at a loss for a corkscrew?" - Tom Stoppard, Arcadia

Taykad writes: "She's the girl your mother would have loved more than she loves you."

Taylan was supposed to compose my profile way back when. When he got around to it, he wrote all kinds of nice things about me, but I decided to go for the one sentence that would most effectively alienate people.

I am brainy, swanky, and brave

What I’m doing with my life
I am the education/volunteer director for a small museum. That's my official title, but on any given day, I'll be developing databases, installing storm windows, researching Victorian furniture, dishing out chicken to old people, or any number of other random things. Oh, also, I have a degree in Anthropology, and am currently pursuing my MBA at USF.

I'll be honest: I'm winging it. I don't know what I'm doing, but I figure it will eventually lead me to bigger and better places. Like, maybe, somewhere away from Florida. That'd be cool.

Nothing, really. But I'm kinda-sorta okay at tons of things.

The first things people usually notice about me
This is a very silly question. I wish I could say there was something extraordinary about me, but no. I get a lot of "Have we met before?" comments, which leads me to believe there are tons of short little white girls around who look just like me.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, Stephen King's Dark Tower series, Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials books, other fun stuff that doesn't consume too much of my brainpower. Though I guess it might be debatable with Pullman, if you were a literary dork in HS. I've read a lot of academic stuff, including religious texts, social and postmodernist theory, and what people call the "classics," but I can't say I did it for fun. Most of that stuff was in one ear, out the other anyway.

Movies: Most everything involving geekdom, the Muppets, Will Ferrell, and Bruce Campbell. I tend to like films that don't take themselves too seriously. Ask me about what I watch on TV, and I'll say a lot of the BBC, Lost, and Mythbusters.

Music: I like hip hop, bluegrass, rock, Chopin and other romantic composers, musicals, opera, folk, my man Stevie, pop in its many incarnations, and just about anything else that's melodic, fun, or has a beat. I tend to cling to female singer-songwriters like Feist and Basia Bulat, but that's by no means all I listen to. I tend to stay away from country music, classic rock, and that romantic wishy washy stuff they play on the r&b stations these days. Oh, and Girl Talk rocks. My radio at work is always set on NPR.

Food: Good.

On a typical Friday night I am
Finishing off the boxed wine and watching Top Gear reruns?

Making sweet, sweet love to your... you know? (See above).

I'll probably be studying or sleeping, actually. Because I am a nerd.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Whenever I get rick rolled, I actually stick around to listen to the rest of the song.

I hate to admit it, and clauderainsrm would laugh, but I'm considerably nicer than how I come off in this profile. (Don't tell anyone!)

We'd probably have something in common if:

You don't say things like "I like to have fun" or "I love to laugh" on your profile.

You can quote Eddie Izzard with ease.

You're a secret foreigner, like me.

You're a Garrison Keillor fan and you just don't care.

You are made of awesome.
